View Full Version : Board Updates Log Thread

Because it was requested, this thread will serve as a log of all changes I make to the board, big or small.
If you need to discuss something go ahead. Keep in mind that after some time any posts other than ones stating board updates will be deleted or moved to a seperate thread, to keep this on-topic. ;)

Spoiler BBCodesJust finished changing all of the spoiler-style bbcodes.
They all now use built-in vbulletin javascript functions to hide/show text, instead of my code.

Something new though is that the spoiler tag now supports users with javascript disabled.
For users without javascript instead of getting the hide/show links they get a message saying to highlight the black area to see the spoiler, and the spoiler isn't hidden, it instead gets it's text colored black and a black background so the text can't be read.

New Heading BBCodeAlso added a new Heading bbcode.
It can be seen above
To use it the bbcode is

[heading]Heading

NZB Index UpdatesMore updates from today include changes to the NZB Index (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/nzbindex.php, did you know it was there?).
The new changes include highlighting of whether the thread is read or not, like we have in the forums, and a message that says if the NZB file has been downloaded. :)

I've also started working on something else new for the nzb index: favorites/reminders. You can set an nzb thread as a reminder to download the file later.
So far i've done a little coding in the background but nothing can be seen yet.

Found a bug in the NZB thing.

Once you choose a category, it saves it. The next time you return to the NZB section, members should be able to view all categories, but you must reset the categories which you wish to browse every time, back to "all".I know, the filter does the same thing. I don't know how to fix it. You have to close/reopen browser, or hit check-all in the filter.

NZB Index Download RemindersFinished the first part of my hack. You can add a reminder for NZBs by clicking the add reminder button: http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/images/arcade/addfav.gif
http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/nzbindex.php
Works using ajax, so you don't have to reload the page when you add/remove a reminder. :)

tesco
05-20-2007, 03:15 PM
Done.

NZB Index Download Reminders CompleteI've completed the second part of this hack. You can now show only NZB reminders by clicking a link that says 'My NZB Reminders' which is next to the filter and search dropdown links.

Fixed bug in NZB Posting that's been there for years...if the nzb age is in the future (diff time zone or something) then it sets the date to the current time so we don't get things like "Age -36min"

Added a small fix to let vbulletin detect the new safari browser for windows.
Should fix some issues like popups/dropdowns not working.
Although I haven't tried the browser so i don't know if a problem existed or if it's fixed.

How 'bout the portal? Makin' the news shorter, but with more articles.

You da boss. :P Done.

Fixed a bug with the 'User most active in forum x with y posts' code that you can see in people's profiles.
It now takes into account forums where posts aren't counted (trash is currently the only one...that I know of ) and whether or not you are able to view the forum they are most active in.
If the viewer doesn't have permission to view the forum that the user is most active in then nothing gets displayed. For example, members won't see team chat if one of the mods is most active there...

Will also be adding the links to nzb forum pages (skizo's request) at some point later in the week probably.

tesco

Added CAPTCHA (enter string of letters/numbers to continue) for logins. This will stop (hopefully) the login hacking attempts.
Hopefully if the hack attempts stop for a while then we can remove the captcha in a couple of months and be back to normal. :)

Threads in the NZB forums now display nzb index as a link in the navigation at the top of the page.

(example: > FileSharing Talk (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/) > File Sharing (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-file-sharing-78/) > Newsgroups (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-newsgroups-79/) > NZB Index (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-nzb-index-109/) > TV NZBs (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-tv-nzbs-120/) > The Kite Runner DVDSCR XViD-CAMERA (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-tv-nzbs-120/t-the-kite-runner-dvdscr-xvid-camera-261540/))

Ditto on the absent friends.:(

EDIT: Figured it out. You have to go to contacts and friends, and therein lies your original friend list. To get them listed on your main page again you need to check them all as "friend" and hit save. It will send out and request to each individual to confirm the request. Once confirmed, voila!

thanks for the new profil and networking options, they look cool. and after kallieb's post i understand now that i have to reinvite my friends so to speak.

what i'm missing is the option in the statistics to see the most active section regarding postcounts.

not a big deal.

it was just interesting to see if a member has 98% of his posts in the invite section with one click.

Old was a hack.
So there's no way of saving the old friends list, you need to send a friend request to get a user as your friend.

As for 'user most active in...' that will be back shortly.

Cache didn't do it. Cleared cache for both IE and FF and neither were getting a preview, so I tried cookies and that did it.

uhh changes changes...

This goes back to a while ago:

- Changed the way filters work in the nzb index (nothing interesting for you guys).
- Added option to SAVE a filter so that every time you view the index it shows your custom nzb types.
- Changed the way nzb posting works to make it MUCH more reliable, and was able to shorten the code (not that you guys care, again). Also fixed the NFO fetching (automatic) because it has been broken for a long long time.

- Fixed some skin bugs

- Started to work on the new submit news system.

- A couple weeks ago we got a faster hard drive put into the server.

- Soon i'll be upgrading the board to vb 3.7 b6

New stuff from today....

- Changed the 'pages' icon in thread lists, and removed the rbackets around the page numbers
- Changed the 'go to last post' icon in thread lists
- Change the 'go to new post' icon in thread lists
- Changed the thread rating icons to mini versions of the stars used in our user ranks
- Updated the images in the 'user cp' dropdown box at the top of the page to match the new icons that I put in the user cp links a few weeks ago
- Added icons showing if a user is male/female (if they set it in profile) next to their name, only in the default skin right now...
- Also I changed the little username link under thread titles (thread poster) to a real link. The way it was before annoyed me because I couldn't middle-click it to open in a new tab.

Forum JumpI made the forum jump (links dropdown that was at the bottom of the page up until a few days ago) an option from the usercp.
http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/profile.php?do=editoptions
Look near the bottom.

NZB IndexIncase anyone hasn't noticed over the past few weeks i've changed the code for the nzb reminders and nzb nuking (for mods) to be more reliable.
Also added some new effects to it. First of all nzb reminders now have an in-page popup telling you that it's working (ajax). Second the nzb nuking has the same and also has an in-page popup for asking the nuke reason and other various confirmations...

NZB PostingLast week I added a few new tv shows images to the dropdown list. If anyone sees any missing that they would like added please REQUEST IT. I can't be expected to know every show...
Also I made it so that when an image i chosen the info link (link to that tv show @ tvrage.com) is inserted automatically as well.

Ross, in user-profiles I have a link to "Edit Rep Comments", but when I click on it it takes me to the AdminCP login, not the ModCP login. (obviously I can't log in)

Some major updates in the NZB Index.

Now when you download NZBs instead of getting preassembled ones made by the members that uploaded them you can customize.
Only download the files from it that you want.
Like on binsearch, newzleech, etc.

1.) the default "aligned text" that pushes the text to the left column of the post...it's annoying
2.) images with "floatright" tags are posted below (after) the headline & time stamp displacing it somewhat (the larger the image, the more it's displaced)
3.) news images in the selection box are old/outdated with only a few exceptions...I'm more than happy to manage the album
4.) wordwrap is...? weird; paragraphs are double-spaced

Great looking skin, and I love the logo. Needs some tweaking on the deleted posts, as it's impossible to read anything there.
On the WTO, the delete tracker button is missing, but no biggie.

Yep, there's usually problems with dark icons and icons that were designed for "light" ones and thus are hard to spot, but those can be fixed with some effort. :)

About that tapatalk app, no windows mobile support.
Used to love that mobile skin we had on vB3. :(

We have a mobile skin on that other forum and it's based on vB4. You can append "?styleid=36" to see how it looks. I use it sometimes to check for new posts from my phone, it obviously loads much faster than the full skin, even on Opera Mini.

Anon-SBI's avatar looks great on this skin.

True, the background blends with postbits perfectly.

If anybody knows how to fix the smilies, other than manually removing each pixel, I'd love to know...
I tried photoshop's layer -> matte -> remove white matte, remove black matte, and the other option, but none of them work...

Installed a new black style. Looks a lot better than the pixel wood one imo,
Bless you.
Definitely superior to that Home Depot pixel wood thing.

It really was annoying. Thought, "why in the hell would anyone choose this?"

I understand it was Stevie Wonder's favorite.

It was one of only a few dark themes available at that time, and was the best of them.
You don't want to see the others.

Fixed, the logo was too big.

It's happening again. Opera 10.63, Windows XP SP3, 1024x768, if that helps. Oh, and I reiterate my suggestion of centering usernames in postbits for the Black Stealth theme, just like it's done in the "FST" one. I'm using it to surf from my netbook and it looks awesome. :D

Damn this new style is nice. I was using that eye-burning light style since I couldn't stand pixel wood. Thank you for bringing us a great looking dark style.

I don't see the issue with the logo. Somehow I missed this post from 1 month ago.

I don't see the issue with the logo.

It's not really a problem, but it'd be nice if the top ad banner was next to the logo as with the "FST" skin, instead of below it. Have a look:

That's what I get for having a six year old PC. :blushing:

Thanks in advance for your efforts :)
