View Full Version : Screencaps (deluxe) ;-)

For quite some time I've been searching for a video player (or editor) that lets me make screencaps from various sources and formats with some extras to it. Unlike VLC which I have been using so far, I need a player/editor that lets me navigate frame-wise forward and backward. I don't need this just for some sample screens but for some exact caps from quality sources.

Some kind of auto-crop would be a feature I'd enjoy. From time to time I get to watch a video file that isn't cropped to my liking. At the moment the task at hand means manually cropping several pictures manually, so why not set it up once and automatically generate cropped caps. Does a function like this actually exist? I'd be content with script-support to build this myself.

Thanks for your suggestions and help, Daniel

If you throw the clip in Adobe Premiere 2 (or another version), you can navigate frame by frame and take a snapshot of the video.

As for custom cropping, Premiere doesn't support this, you'd have to go use another software program for that.

Thanks for the hint about Premiere, I'll be giving that one a try. This doesn't solve my cropping issue yet but maybe I can do something with Irfanview or another image viewer/editor with batch or scripting capabilities.
