Hi Jdezy,
it is hard to answer your question.
vlc is a player that plays a large amount of videos that can be formatted
in various compressions....as in Mpg,Vob,Wmv,Divx,etc...etc.

so you have not given us anything to work with.
you have to know the extension of the file, it is important for us to
have info like what type of machine, os, and are all the files the same type.

also a player is not a burner, you need a software and hardware designed
to burn a dvd. in order to help you, you must guide us by giving us added
information so we can lead you down the correct path and provide you some help in your quest.

Your files are not in vlc format, when you installed vlc you selected all video formats to be "associated" with vlc so the icons would show "opens with vlc". ;)

Try using Nero to burn them, if the file is 700mb then it's usually .avi, burn that to a cd, if it's 4.5gb then select burn image to disc onto a dvd.
