Hello im new to news groups and i have looked through a few FAQs but i need help getting certain files.
Im using NewsLeecher v3.8 and my isp is currently my server which i can connect to in news leecher and most things download fine but if i try to get a 360 game from here using a .NZB the files dont download properly.
The log says "¤ Server response: "430 No Such Article".
I guess its because im using my ISP as my server? if so what is a good free server i can use if one does exist?
Thanks!

The 'no such article' means that the news-server you're using (which one? not listed) probably doesn't have enough 'retention'. Check out the dates on the files, see how long since they were uploaded/posted, from one of the files check sites. That will give you a clue. Most ISP newsgroup servers are lucky to have a retention of just a few days, particularly on binary files; some have gotten better, but nowhere near the multi-month storage of the 'majors'.

FYI, there is NO good 'free' server when it come to binaries.

Thanks it could be the retention, it just seems the file size is big factor 700mb to 1500mb seems fine but the larger files like 4GB+ never work.

Or your ISP does not carry the binary group.

Or your ISP does not carry the binary group.

Then it should be "411 No Such Group"

Your partition must be allocated by NTFS.
FAT32 file system only supports files less than 2GB.
You can convert your FAT32 partition to NTFS by using convert.exe.

Im defo NTFS and im running windows XP.
I dont think its retention as new stuff just doesnt download and sometimes it does depending on the item, its a shame as i get great speeds nearly 2MB/s with 4 bots.

I get the same errors "430 No Such Article" and "Cannot connect".

I was told my ISP does not allow me to connect to international servers :(

Check the age of the files on Usenet. That might help determine the retention on your ISP news servers.

No free news servers exist, but IMO UsenetServer is great. I'm not a current subscriber nor advocating it for pay in any way. But 15.00/month for 105 days of retention is unrivaled in the industry. :P

No free news servers exist

Well my downloader client shows that I'm connected to free.yottanews.com, freebin.readnews.com, test.news.telefonica.de, and news.freenet.de which are automatically filliing in a few holes in Qwest's ISP news server. That's about all they're good for.

Ermm... The maximum file size on a FAT32 volume is 4GB (-1 byte)
Your news servers retention rate is the problem.
