hey i just got this in, aint tried a game yet but i tried an avi file but when i full screen'd it, the picture was quite blocky, am i doing something wrong?

tried stalker, not jerky but liney if tht makes sense

What resolution was the avi file?
and what resolution is your monitor on?
If the video has to be stretched out to fit a larger surface area, the quality will lessen. Try a DVD or larger resolution video and see if it is still bad quality.
If so try different video drivers maybe.

monitor is on 1600x1050 and i installed the latest driver for my 8800gts 640mb. i tried a dvd and thts OK quality on full screen, not crystal...is tht normal? the avi was 640x270 btw...

That's just natural. Your stretching the video over twice the size of it's resolution. It's called "destructive scaling".

ok so how can i get clear movies when stretched?

and also i used a 720p hd trailer and it was jerky :S when my computer is pretty decent? is this also because of the stretching?

AND i find GRAW a tiny bit choppy...i have aa at 16x and 1600x1050 res, heres my specs...

The larger the resolution, the larger the file size is going to be. Since many downloaders don't like to wait very long to download things or use up their ratio, be it a torrent user, it's harder to find such resolutions.

If you don't utilize newsgroups, then I suggest getting an invite to x263.eu or something, and start downloading 12-15 GB movies. :ermm:

I read recently in a PC mag that playing games in the higest resolution is more demanding on both the cpu and the Video Card. Also if your game is not able to take advantage of your dual cpu then basically its running on just one and you don't get the benifit of dual core. If you set any game to 600x800 res then you can turn everything up all the way and play the game then increase the resolution a step at a time to find where the game comes unglued.

An lcd monitor has a native resolution you need to set for basic operation, but that setting is different to setting a game to run in a different resolution than the lcd native one. A higher resolution has more pixels per inch on the screen and takes more horse power to display.

thanx guys, i set the aa to x8 and i get no choppy-ness but im still weary about the lagging on the hd trailers :S my pc before this which was lower spec than this one ran 720p kinda smoothly :S

What player are you using? Media player classic always plays smoothly for me.

why not just watch the trailer in 480p? i'm sure ur not gonna notice a difference. also, ur card tends to choke when going above 1200 rez with high settings. that's what the gtx is for.

right i figured out the hd choppynesss...t was klite, uninstalled and dloaded a older version and it runs smooth. i was just wondering would an xbox overpower my rig now?
