Based on 'revolutionary technology' by Audible Magic, YouTube is moments away from implementing a new system where copyrighted content will be stopped before the uploading process of the video(s) is ever completed.

InformationWeek calls it "fingerprinting technology" where a spokesman for Google, Ricardo Reyes, says that "We're trying to see if there is a way to make video identification technology a reality. We're going to start testing that on a larger scale in July with some pretty large partners."

The new system is still labeled as an early beta which--as Softpedia points out--maybe a "simple way to avoid criticism over the inefficacy of the feature" since this may have a significant impact on uploaders.

I hope this doesn't remove all their music videos. That's the only thing Y.T. is good for.

I don't recall ever going on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com) or any other video streaming site for that matter so this information is irrelevant to me. But correct me if I'm wrong, isn't there other video streaming sites out there.

it wont take 30 seconds for someone to make an anti-"fingerprint" macro for virtual-dub. it won't even stop the kids that are only wanting to show their mates a thirty second clip, because the antiantipiracy thing could be put on newsgroup releases. they'd be better off praying for it to stop
