Just because their servers is not that good for the amount of users they have and since no one donates on there they can't afford a better one plus its in some crappy country if i remember right.
Which is a shame as FTN is one of the best sites without a doubt in my top 3.

Pluto

FTN site's server is in Malaysia and it's really slow...

But it doesn't really matter, because they have great speeds... I was downloading this 4.3GB movie with only 1 seeder at 2Mbps.

Are you going to name better sites?

eliteman
06-21-2007, 09:12 PM
why is it overrated, nobody is saying that's it's the "greatest" site on earth, it's just very rare and only saught after because of that, it has the usual content, but nobody is saying that it has special things, it has some packs just like ScT, and that's the reason why the two recieve 10 rating for content, and imo i don't think that's overrating

I like it although I wouldn't really recommend it to users with slow upload because of the massive speed.

In my opinion, FTN is not overated, actually i
think he's the best torrents-site we have.
(yes, better than SCT in all aspects,
expect the server speed- while browsing)

As others have said, it is because they don't have the best server. If it is so bad, why don't you donate:)?

Roark
06-22-2007, 02:30 AM
It's not that the server can't handle the load, it's that it's located in Malaysia and apparently poorly routed to large portions of the world. That, and they must have some coding issues, because the site is regularly taken offline for a few minutes at a time for some reason.

I think the site is great for people with low bandwidth, where else are you going to get such large packs free? But shhh, apparently they'd rather be known for being a 0day tracker (because we all know how rare those are) than for the content that really makes them special.

browsing is FTN is fucking slow.. and they have a shitty HnR rule .. FTN is overrated .. i donno why people need another tracker when they can download everything from Torrentleech , and its easy to seed in TL

You only have to seed for 72 hours if you haven't seeded 1:1 by then. So what is the problem? Are you a leech:dry:?

no one told you to keep your pc 72 hours straight, but I assume normal people would take a week to seed 72 hours :P

Night0wl
06-22-2007, 10:38 AM
From what I hear as long as you seed continuesly for the first few hours after completing it, it is OK to take smaller breaks from seeding. This is just hear say, But I can tell you later today, since I am forced to go offline for a few hours.

Pluto
06-22-2007, 11:25 AM
No one requires you to run the pc for 72 hours straight. As long as you continue to run utorrent 1 hour after finishing, you are then alloted the rest of the torrents life to seed it back for 72 or until you hit 1.

Sometimes people make me laugh.

I suggest you read the forum. You don't have to keep your computer on for 72 hours at all:wacko:.

To increase activity on site, Staff has decided to let some fresh faces in and increase our userbase to 6k. Invites have been handed out automatically to FTN Power+ (with an exception of ones who have lost their invite privileges). Please be advised if you are caught making dupes and trades, this will be subject to a ban. Invite those who you know and trust.

I am sorry for my ignorance. I didn't know that seeding continuously was not required. :frusty:

they said in the forum it does not have to be straight 72 hrs seeding u should seed for a few hours if u have a reason to stop the torrent so u don't get a warning. I usually just seed without stopping though since there is no reason for me to stop them.

SKGunners

Seeding 72 hours shouldn't be any problem. You can just seed one hour then turn off your PC and continue seeding the next day.

In the last 42 weeks, my computer has been turned off for like 4-5 hrs at max for maintenance, and 2 reboots due to software crash.

And before that I had my old computer running 24/7 more than a year, with only 3 reboots.

I don´t see the point in turning your computer off if you are in the filesharing communities.

Then you have some serious problem with spyware or something else trashing your computer.

My computer running as a file server is stripped to the max and only running the applications needed for file sharing, and IRC. But for a normal user, playing games, surfing, photo editing and so on you should at least be able to run your computer a couple of weeks without noticing any loss in performance.

Nah, none of that shi* is trashing my PC, it's just not that new - one of the first P4's and kinda low on RAM, but it's not problem for me to reload every morning and one-two times at pm. :)
