Chris Benoit, family found dead

STAMFORD, Conn., June 25, 2007 – World Wrestling Entertainment was informed today by authorities in Fayette County, Ga., that WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and his son were found dead in their home. Authorities are investigating, but no other details are available at this time.

Instead of its announced programming for tonight on USA Network, WWE will air a three-hour tribute to Chris Benoit.

Chris was beloved among his fellow Superstars, and was a favorite among WWE fans for his unbelievable athleticism and wrestling ability. He always took great pride in his performance, and always showed respect for the business he loved, for his peers and towards his fans. This is a terrible tragedy and an unbearable loss.

WWE extends its sincere condolences and prayers to the Benoit family and loved ones in this time of tragedy.

"From an investigation that has taken place yesterday afternoon, and continued at the crime lab earlier today where autopsies were performed on all three subjects, we're now looking at this case and ruling it as a double homicide-suicide," said Lt. Tommy Pope, sheriff for Fayette County, Ga., on Tuesday afternoon.

Pope said evidence from Benoit's suburban Atlanta home led investigators to believe that the wrestler murdered his 43-year-old wife Nancy, possibly on Friday, by asphyxiation. Pope said sometime shortly after that, Benoit murdered his seven-year-old son Daniel, also by asphyxiation.

"Then maybe later on Saturday evening, sometime early Sunday, he committed suicide by hanging himself in the basement," said Pope, adding that no suicide note was found at the scene.

Benoit, 40, his wife and son were found dead at 2 p.m. on Monday in three separate rooms.

I wonder what the motive was..... :unsure::(

damn, heard about this too....kinda crazy. He was one of my favorite wrestlers when i used to watch wrestling. He seemed so chilled, i wouldnt believe he could do this. Sad....
