I've got a really anoying problem.. my screen displays larges white stripes.. it's kinda hard to describe so i took some pics:

it happened 2 times before but this time i cannot fix it.. :pinch:

I tried to uninstall&reinstall the lastest driver of my x1900gt and i also tested on the 2 differents LCD but i still have those white stripes..
then my comp crashes or display a blue screen "ati2dvag error"

my specs: -e6600
-P965-DS4
-x1900pro
OS:XP pro SP2

Any suggestions ?

Your card is dead.

That about sums it up.

Solution: Get a new one.

Yes, it's dying. Eventually you won't be able to boot up your pc unless you have integrated video.

It isn't necessarily dead.

I've seen problems like that with LCD displays, but the problems go away when you connect a CRT display. I suspect that the problem mat lie in the monitor definition (misleadingly called monitor drivers), not the graphics card drivers. I seem to recall that it was something to do with the relationship between refresh rates and resolution.

Try lowering the resolution to see if things improve. Once you can see what you are doing, make sure you've got the correct "drivers" for the monitor. Assuming they are wrong and you can replace them with the correct ones, you should then be able to increase the resolution.

Of course, if lowering the resolution doesn't improve things then it may well be a dying graphics card as others have suggested.

Well, i tried on CRT but i still have the same problem.
I don't understand, i bought it 5 months ago .. i never O/C my GPU and it was very well cooled by a 120mm fan.
I guess it was my first and last ATI GPU..
Anyway thanks you guys for the fast answers

Lol? You do know that even the 8800GTS outperforms the HD2900XT right?

Lol indeed ? :)
I'm talking about the 2600XT which has hardware VC-1 support .That's what I'm interested in since I don't play very much. This function has not been implemented in the 8800 or the 2900.
And stop looking so much at framerate numbers.Ati's rendering method is far better than Nvidia's.
