http://torrentfreak.com//images/oink.gif"The hugely popular BitTorrent tracker OiNK.me.uk appears to be offline but it is in fact alive and well."

Over the last 48 hours the OiNK BitTorrent tracker has appeared to be offline since they "are experiencing some DNS issues" matched with the fact that their domain registrar also suspended the domain.

The Domain Name System (DNS) is "the mechanism by which easily readable domain names such as OiNK.me.uk are translated to their corresponding IP addresses." So you can just simply type their IP into address bar--85.17.40.71--and proceed to happily visit their wonderful, sourceful site.

If you're really techie, Oink has posted the following:

We apologise for the continuing DNS problems. You can get around this by adding our hostnames directly to your hosts file. Add the following lines to your \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file (the number of spaces between the IP and the name doesn’t matter as long as there’s at least one space (or tab):

85.17.40.69 tracker.oink.me.uk
85.17.40.70 irc.oink.me.uk
85.17.40.71 oink.me.uk

Had me really scared for awhile. All these sites went down the same day: oink, ftwr, demonoid, and puretna. Along with demonoid being moved as a result of a match of hide and seek and them hiding it. All just seemed too coincidental.

They've all been raided. If they come back up it'll be to record IP's from a limited amount of users who use bittorrent. Then they'll be hunted down to set an example for other d/lers and u/lers as you can't arrest everybody.

Just kidding.

But if it happens you heard here first. :D
