I'll be firing up my Vista machine in the next couple of days.

I've heard and read codecs can be a bit of a hairy issue with Vista, responsible for a variety of problems if DLed rashly.

I use VLC and WMP quite often, and a few other players on occasion; lots of music, some video, etc.

K-Lite Mega Codec Pack works great on Vista.

Yep.

I would say with the Mega Pack which Entity mentioned (:wave:), combined with VLC, you shouldn't run in to any walls.
