Someone told me that a 64 meg Geforce Ti4200 performs better then a 128 meg FX5200...So that obviously means that a Ti4800 128 meg is better then a FX5600 256 meg right?

Also, is it true that the Ti4600 performs better then the Ti4800 and is more expensive? If so, what are the differences? Also, what is the best make of Ti4800 to get? Gainward, Evga, chaintech etc... Do any of those Ti4800 come with Video-In capabilites...Is 4800SE better or worse then 4800?

Last 3D Card questions...I promise, can't find the answers anywhere else.

"someone" doesn't sound like a reliable source to me.

the extra memory is there for a reason. one company may promote one exclusive feature, and another company may promote another exclusive feature, and both may claim that their exclusive feature will revolutionize gaming as we know it and all that blah blah blah... but the one thing you can be sure of is that next year's games will be hungry for more video card RAM than last year's games.

at a certain point, games will benefit from 128mb cards enough that all 64mb cards will fall behind. and then games will want 256mb cards, and the 128mb cards will fall behind. and so forth. and one day, a 64mb card will not even meet the minimum requirements that games will need in order to start up.

so... i'm not looking at benchmarks to verify your friend's claim, but even if a 64mb geforce 4 is faster in some of last year's games, it WILL start to lag and become obsolete before the 5200 does.

It is true that the ti4200/64m is faster that the ti4200/128m as the 64 meg version had faster ram. But that doesn't mean that the same applies to other cards.

As for which brand? That comes down to personal choice. Look into what each company includes in the package. MSI has a lot of bonus stuff added.

This was only at lower resolutions, and lower AA settings anyhow...

I know for a fact that my kid's "TNT2 RIVA" 32MB with NVIDIA drivers, is a lot better than the ATI Radeon 7000 with 64MB DDR.
