Hello everyone!

How can we stop addictions....Another popular recovery tool is called an intervention.

An intervention generally refers to a planned gathering of people who know the addict and want to offer support and intervene to stop the addiction.

Friends, family, co-workers, church members or in short close contacts meet and gently confront the person with the addiction to drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex or other behavior or substance addiction.

How do you stop yours????

David.

My preferred method is to get dusky maidens to rub soothing balm into my unrobed and recumbant form. This tends to take my mind off anything else.

Can't stop addictions. Tis' impossible.

Stop the behavior, yes.

There is a difference between an addiction & having a problem.

Put it this way. Once a person who has a problem stops (or is stopped) the behavior. They are fine. They don't need help.

But the addict. Once they stop or are stopped. They need to get to the root of thier problem(s). For instance, typically an addict who somehow stops. Without therapy, introspection, 12 steps or whatever. Will transfer addictions. Sometimes to a socially acceptable ones. Like work or exercising. Just as often it's another negative addiction.

The person with the problem just needs to stop. They don't have an addiction.

So in summing up. Theres no magic wand for an addict. Stopping yes but only with continued actions on part of the addict.

Once the behaviour is learned, and the victim remembers how to repeat the behaviour to get the desired effect, positive reinforcement(the desired effect) causes the cycle to repeat itself with increased ferocity.

high school psychology rears it's ugly head, ftw.

Actually, cancers a double hard bastard. I would try to seduce it - and
when we were done making love. I would stab it...as it slept.

The best way to stop an addiction is not to start one.
