The hungarian trackers are overrated? :frusty: There are 2 trackers rated on the WIAW thread. Bitgate is lvl4, and nCore is lvl6. And still you can't trade nCore for another lvl6 tracker, they are usually traded for lvl8. The hungarian trackers are underrated, not overrated.

Exigo and UK-T are overrated. But again, it`s my opinion. I guess this Leveling System is the culprit. If we only take rarity in account , than this system is convenient. SCT is obviously good... and overrated - because you can get most of its content on TL and with almost the same pretimes.

SCT also has a Pay2Leech/Invite system, $40 T-shirts, it's difficult to seed there if you don't have a seedbox...

SCT also has 15,000 members, while FTN has only 5,000 (and has great content and best pretimes and staff)...

That's why I think SCT is overrated and FTN is the best. :)

OiNK is ok as a dedicated music tracker, But in some aspects it sucks.

My girlfriend wanted "big summer tunes" album, So the first place i checked was OiNK and it wasn't there. I checked demonoid and it had been there for around 5 days (The same day of release) and it still didn't appear on OiNK for another week or so after.

To me, As a member who is unbanned too, Its over rated.

My list of over rated right now would be...

RevTT (I prefer TL and this is my opinion ;))
OiNK (Sites like Demonoid have better content and pre-times alot of the time)
TranceRoute (Just wasn't what i expected when i got in)

maybe rarity-wise. But if you want to know content-wise I think FSC is pretty good because if you want anything all you have to do is request and it will be filled in a few days. They dont want to go in the direction of every other 0day tracker out there, they strongly promote community. They just have all the major daily releases and a bunch of rare releases, a lot of them posted because of requests in the requests section or on the various forums relevant to your request.

But Rapidshare, don't even think about that. Yes I'm aware that very much web-warez use file hosting services like that and Rapidshare happens to be the most popular one - what's good for the uploader isn't necessarily good for the downloader. Doesn't RS have a download limit of ~8GB per day with your pay account? If one agrees to spend money on this stuff, why not choose a newsgroup provider instead?

Back to topic: I think the most overrated trackers are general 0day ones with less than 5k users. They may be rare, they are surely desireable for many but they are nothing special compared to a multitude of alternatives. There's also this foreign tracker hype which is just crazy to go along with - some are good and some are mediocre but that doesn't matter to most guys.

I really don't see why ANYONE would find OiNK overrated. Even if you could find all the albums somewhere else, OiNK has the highest quality standards I've seen (other than maybe e****, but they don't allow any lossy formats).

I personally think too much emphasis is put on pretimes for 0day trackers, since most 0day places get content within 30 minutes of each other. I'm on SCC currently, which has good pretimes, but I've been looking around for something a bit more private (don't wanna get caught) and a nice community.

Edit: oh, and what's with people calling trackers overrated because they're not rare? Last time I checked, the point of joining these sites was to download stuff and maybe make a few friends on the forums/irc. Seems all people wanna do now is collect rare sites and show off how "1337" they are...

Well I'd love to offer up my opinion on if FTN or SCT or any of the other high level trackers are over rated but I've never been a member so it's kind of hard to make that depiction.

What do you guys base the level of overrated on? Content rating? Rarity levels? How much they are talked about, good or bad?

Are half the people here posting, claiming some tracker is overrated, even members at said tracker? Do they have anything to base their assumptions on except for hearsay?

I have seen many tracker mentioned here, that I would say is in no way overrated. Actually most trackers mentioned here don't fit that label.

I find that most every tracker that I have joined has had exactly the content, speed, retention, number of users etc. I was told it had before joining, so to me no tracker I am member of is overrated and the trackers I'm not a member of, I can not claim are overrated since I really have no idea if they are.

And BTW E, Pedros, TT, Pisexy, ScT and the bunny are in no way overrated. Underrated if anything. And apart from one small thing, that users cannot upload, FSC isn't overrated either. Simply because on a tracker that small and community based, I believe anyone should be able to upload what they feel s worth sharing.

many of the trackers i see here are getting overated comments simply because they are misunderstood... if your looking for something in paticular and you found it on lets say iplay, then i would assume you wouldnt even think it over rated.. but many of the posters here are basing their comments on lack of entry also.. they can't get in, so it's highly overrated... nevermind the fact that they never really wanted it to begin with... (almost forgot the haters) ...this crew of people just hate certain trackers because they may have been scorned by staff... for reasons like cheating, trading, multiple accounts, ect.. so then again, there're overrated.. then we have this lame ass WIAW list... people (new and old) in the torrent world and think... OH MY! I NEED THAT..... drooling at some make believe list that most take as the bible of torrenting..(and lets don't pretend people don't either) ..... lets face another fact here... if that list never existed this thread just wouldn't be, simply because people wouldn't want to join these trackers as much...

bottom line is people that WIAW list is the main source for any of these trackers to be "OVER RATED" or "UNDER RATED" ...

they are all good in their own rights.. but that list says otherwise.. enjoy a tracker for what it is, not what the WIAW says it is.. lvls suck!

RARITY is determined by traders , on how hard is to get an invite(or account) for any one tracker.. the less opotunity to get in the higher its place in said list... it don't matter whats on the tracker.. could be instructions on how to assemble various vaccum cleaners, they don't care.. if it has no invite system they'll put in their list as a level infinity or w/e....

thats how this list works.... and thats why it sucks... it cuts good trackers down.. or hypes one that perhaps should be left alone...

Overrated on FST?

if it is, then BCG and any tracker with a [10] rating imo.

I will be honest and say its very nice to have a [10] rating, but that to me says we can not improve any, and im pretty sure we can if we just put our minds to it.

I don't think that the content is bad, but there is something really wrong with the search feature.
Last night y searched for "THE NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD" +"GEORGE ROMERO" and got torrents of Call Of Duty 4 :frusty:
But the speeds are good in most torrents.

If it was harder to get an invite it would be level 4-5, because levels have nothing to do with how good a tracker is, just how rare it is.

Also Ex, the music site, is very overrated. Everyone wants to join in there, looking for lot of music albums. But there aren't so many users and torrents. People think its like heaven, but it's not.

well the quality of torrents and ripping experience of the users makes it a good site for audiophiles. it isn't over-rated so much as it is very niche.
