so, was checking out release dates on windows' os and came up with this:

Windows Version 1

Windows 1.0 = 1985
Windows 2.0 = 1987
Windows 3.0 = 1990
Windows 3.1 = 1993
Windows 3.5 = 1994

Windows Version 2

Windows 95 = 1995
Wndows NT 4.0 = 1996

Windows Version 3

Windows 98 = 1998

Windows Version 4

Windows 2000 = 2000
Windows ME = 2000

Windows Version 5

Windows XP = 2001

Windows Version 6

Windows Vista = 2007

Windows Version 7

Windows Vienna = 2010?

seeing how windows vista was much delayed 3 years is normal, but quite soon imo. either way. not sure if it will be for home use or not. prob just vista for it's support of dx10. we'll see.

Wasn't there a couple of working names , Whistler being one ? The word 'vista' defined means "pleasing view." Thats what I meant as a lot seem to be named after ski hills .

Who knows what it will be ? Think that was the OP 's point ! Working names are fun tho . I'd settle for Win 7 I guess . ;)

Even a Goggle is very vague . :whistling

Old news. Vienna is the real progression. Vista's short life has been defined to lay the fundamental acceptance to coalesce with the MS agenda. The MS agenda being what technology, in software and hardware, should take the plunge or take the elevator.

Vista is the bridge - the conditioned agent.
