You can't an AVI file is already a Compressed file

You CAN but everytime you compress it then you lose some quality of the movie,guide is here.

Avi is compressed and it is the best format for it without losing quality!

hey i did that and the avi file in compressing is 700mb and theestimated sive is a good 800-900mb, should i listen to this or does it completly come down at the end ?

You have to lower the bitrate if the size doesn´t get smaller (sometimes you have to lower it to very low) but you gonna lose quality of the movie as well if you do it.

You can compress the audio too if you wanna get it even smaller.

thans seem to haelped hitting 500 mb then goes smaller,also imwilling to lose qual as its dvd ri

encode to divx i think theres not much quality loss and you can make it from 700mb to 400mb quite easly

a avi file is allready divx or xvid.
