What kind of motherboard do you have?

You really have to give us more of the specifications of you computer for us to be of any help to you.

Refer to;

Maybe you could open your PC case. Take a look at the motherboard.

Even take the memory module that you already have out and tell us what you see. You could even take that module to a local computer store and ask for another the same.

you should download belarc advisor (http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html). it'll give you a full system breakdown and should tell you if you have any ram slots free.

Find the brand and model of your motherboard which is printed on the surface of it.
Go to the website and look for it.
If you find it, you can get the specs and download the manual of your board.

I went to the Intel website , but could not find your motherboard.
Maybe if you look yourself at: appzone.intel.com/boards/index.asp (http://appzone.intel.com/boards/index.asp)
or at: www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/ (http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/)

Again. I say open the case. You will have to do so to put the ram module in anyway.

Take the ram module you have out and tell us what you see. They usually have a sticker on them.

I don't know what could be simpler.

would taking out my memory damage it or anything that might be on it?

.

Be sure to disconnect the power first.

would taking out my memory damage it
You could damage it if you force it or something but there are 2 lever clips to release it at each end of the module. Push them gently outwards. The module will pop out.

or anything that might be on it?

 That's funny. RAM only contains data when the power of your PC is on. When you turn it off the RAM is empty.
