Um, windows explorer. A movie organizer??? Sounds like needless software.

It might be needless, but what the hell, sounds like a good idea to me. I am going to check out MyFilms 4.2

I just made a folder called "My Movies" and put all my avi files in there.

It's kinda a waste of 4 gigs of space.
I have about 1 TB of movies and probably wouldn't care for that program.

This is also my solution, but it tends to get hard when your collection extends into the thousands.
I wish there would exist a program being able to scan through my hard drive and arrange the movies in a database with extended infos (director, year, format etc.)

There is, and does exactly that.
It's Valerio's Mediamanager. Fantastic piece of coding.

Alas no, I haven't made it that far yet.
No chance of getting hold of it otherwise?

I don't have a huge collection(only ~150 movies), but windows explorer works for me.

In my opinion no script can replace automatic software like MyFilms and doesn't look like that for sure.
