Quite a good list.
I have in my list the following:

Metallica: Everything from the black album BACKWARDS (everything after the black album is no longer heavy metal, specially the so pathetic St. Anger)

Megadeth: Everything exept Risk (I don't like that album as I like the rest. )

Pantera: Vulgar Display of Power and Reinventing Steel

Korn: Every single album

Slayer: South of Heaven and Haunting the Chapel (These are the only two I have)

System of a Down: Hypnotize and Mesmerize

Pantera
Vader
Exodus
Megadeth
Paradise Lost
Iron Maiden
King Diamond/Mercyful Fate
Celtic Frost
Godflesh
Overkill
Amorphis

Emo means emotional and all music is emotional, so associating that word with a genre of music makes no sense whatsoever.

Dark Tranquillity is melodic death metal..not goth metal, nightwish is hard to say but more symphonic goth metal/power. Wan't brutal death metal try this

Vital Remains - Icons of Evil
Skinless - Trample The Weak, Hurdle The Dead

Brutal death metal bands at there best!

Yes, I love Chevelle. I'm just getting into 10 Years, and I've heard of Allele but I've yet to find their songs. Are these artists more of alternative metal?

I have to say I love Finnish gothic metal bands like Entwine, Charon, and Amorphis, and some of their doom metal bands like Anathema and Katatonia.
