Where's the best place on newsgroups to find the newest mp3 releases put out? I've just started using newsgroups, so sorry if I didn't ask that question exactly right.

I am using RR newsgroup right now since I am new to it. If I were to get UseNet, would their servers would have more recent releases than the RR servers?

What is RR newsgroup?

If I were to get UseNet, would their servers would have more recent releases than the RR servers?

Usenet providers servers share all the same files between their servers. Within seconds of a file being uploaded to a Giganews server for example it will be available on other NSP's servers.

I do not understand what your query is about as stated above basically newsgroups are what makes up usenet. I have never heard of RR newsgroup. For the purposes of what we are interested all newsgroup are named in a hierarchy. We like the alt.binaries.******* categories.;)

Ahh I'm sorry, I should have clarrified that. RR = Road Runner news server (My ISP). But if they update at just about the same rate, I think the RR news server will do fine for now.

How are the speeds with Road runner? Is it more like usenet or like dsl, charter -ect?

I had RR, I got my full speed which was 600 kb/s.

All the time.

But at that point the binary retention was like 2 days

people have claimed 100+ days recently. If thats true I would really consider switching to roadrunner, 7mbit in my area but only 500kbit upload, while i got 3mbit 765kbit right now with verizon. So newsgroups would be much nicer, but uploading would be worse.

You will have access to the most recently uploaded files, but RR may or may not carry all MP3 groups.

I don't know how long the RR retention is, but I doubt it is longer than a paid usenet server. Therefore, if you're looking for stuff that was uploaded a couple of weeks back, you might not be able to find it.
