Over the past few months we've heard many concerns from those of you fearful of losing your accounts because of high seeding rules for reasons which you can't always control. We have always been very open to our users suggestions and concerns, and with the recent poll we've decided to experiment a bit and lower the seeding rule from 72 hours to 36 hours.

The new rule is as follows, and will still be enforced to it's full extent.

From now on, you are required to seed to either a 1:1 ratio, or for 36 hours (this does not have to be done all at one time).

it's not like the 72 hr rule was all that hardseriously, just leave the damn torrent active! most people here claim that they seed 24/7, yet they complain about having to seed for 3 days?

ftn 36 hours seeding rule FTW
it's not like the 72 hr rule was all that hard

It depends of the size of the torrent. Especially at ftn there are some packs >100GB that I prefer to not keep for long.

I still like the 72 hour seeding time. :P

Question: I leeched and seeded a torrent for over 4 days and it's still marked in red in my torrent history... Isn't to it supposed to be green now since I already seeded it well over 72 hours?

I just remembered... I think n1c0s usually handles members' torrent history and he's been away, that's why...

Red is Hit and run, pink is you didn't seed the required time(36 hours).
Sounds like after you downloaded it, you stopped the torrent.

Would love to have FTN to seed that 32H :P But, on-topic, 72H is maybe too much, it's a good improvement..

then why ud dl if u knew u would not be able or not wanted to keep for at least 3 days? myself i usually have no need to get every vid in a pack never usually

When it becomes gray (even if you have negative ratio) you have seeded for 36 (or 72 previously) hours and you can stop.

If it is pink you have to keep seeding until it gets gray.

This is like saying every torrent will be available for only 36 Hours, i think long term it will be worse.

I know there are not a lot of leechers, well leechers become seeders, and the more of them, the faster the speed of the swarm, the more ppl will want to use the site.

While i understand the strategy, it will make FTN a 36 hours site, and anything that is older then a day in half, people will go somewhere else for.

Let's see in a week or 2 if there are more leecher's and seeder's
There are 5160 user's and 3000 of them are useing the ftn That's what i think. and the rest just keeping it as high lv tracker ....
