I got 4 emails saying the same thing:

Dear ****,

Your account on FileSharing Talk has been locked because someone has tried to log into the account with the wrong password more than 5 times. You will be able to attempt to log in again in another 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

What should i do? I've changed it to an almost impossible one... Should i publish the IP's here?

Anyone can now post an IP addy of their enemy/concurrent and get them banned here...now erm..what was manker's IP addy now ...

The point is the FST security measures, work... important is to know if he/she actually succeded in hacking an account...

We've had several reports of this sort of activity over the last 24 hours or so.

The IP addresses vary, so even in the few cases where they match current users' addresses I don't think we can assume there's any link between that user and the hacker.

My guess is that it is someone who has got hold of a copy of the hacked passwords from bit-hdtv. I've got an incomplete copy (without the passwords), and quite a number of the members who've posted here are on the part I've got.

If that's the case, then clearly the reported hack attempts had different passwords from the ones on bit-hdtv. The worry is how many accounts have been found which had the same password.

Maybe Rossco or Reality could send out a mass email advising members to change their passwords if they had an account at bit-hdtv with the same name and password as their FST account.

Well it doesn't matter if they are proxies. They should be banned. In fact this board should not allow proxies because people using proxies usually are those with dual accounts.

Proxies should not be allowed because they are usually scammers and hackers...

By the way, how can we now if an IP from the hacker was behind an anonymous proxy?

I agree that it could be related to the Bit-HDTV list however I've seen the original list and I'm not on it so unless Bit-HDTV was harvesting passwords after the list was made :idunno: it's probably that idiot that was giving away hacked accounts the other day.

well you don't have to be on the list. they got passwords but that doesn't mean fst username must match bit-hdtv username, so they are banging everyone with all the passwords (mostly torrent forum since probable victims are most likely there). since fst is well protected :yup::01: i would say it is useless, but considering they didn't give up, few accounts may be compromised.

fair enough didn't really think about it that way. so I wonder if they're lurking around here undercover or what because thy don't seem to have caused any damage, that is if they managed to snatch someones account.
