Looks more like a cheap X-Box clone somebody built in their garage. They probably sell them to poor unsuspecting suckers on eBay.

OK, so I put in a CD for a PC game like Vice City. This thing searches the disc for 'Autorun.exe' and does a full install of the game to it's internal hard drive. After a short nap and a plate of spaghetti, it's finally ready to play. However, I obviously can't import my own mp3's or custom skins, not to mention mods or even bug patches. And since it's connected to a TV, my resolution will be limited 320 x 240. Oh yeah, and the gamepad looks about as good as the old Super Nintendo one. Gee that sounds awesome, doesn't it?

Besides, super small PC's are already being made for 'entertainment' systems.

Is this thing for real...? I mean it looks like a piece of shit. Its also awfully small for the amount of crap it has in it. If you look at the picture that shows the back of the unit looks like what nightwolf said, built in a garage. Looks to crapy....

The controller looks like I took my gamepad pro for my pc and stuck it over a hot fire and melted the controllers ends down. There kind of gooed there. If this thing is real and I bought it, I would just take out the shit inside and put it in my computer.

The hell with playing this on my tv...

I don't know whether it is what I am thinking of, but there actually is going to be a machine which plays PC games on your telly. Has very good spec and doesn't come out till the end of the year in the UK. Good thing is that it is only £200 for the normal model, and a bit more for the top-spec model. I think it's a pretty good idea if you ask me.

I'd say it might be good for the "computer challenged", but that's probably not even true. There are so many PC games out there, with so many differences, I guarantee there will be a lot of games that won't work at all on this thing. And you can't do things like lower your hardware acceleration or update your video drivers to try and fix the problem like you would on a PC. So my question remains - who needs this?

Nightwolfs right. Think about it. It will be like a pc that you can't fix! What if a gta error comes around...what can you do??? NOTHING! Its a pc that you install games and pray to god they don't mess up...To much of a risk for me. I can use my video card to watch my pc games on my tv! cheaper to buy that.

Uggghh... I hate to bring this back up, but I was just pointed to the official website (http://www.discoverconsole.com/default.htm).

This is total crap (the system/idea itself)...

I was thinking that too. It won't play a lot of new release games :(

EDIT: Wow, I just noticed the age on this thing. July '03 :P
We should let this die.

Yeah, but the console is just now coming out, which makes this thread relevant again. I was actually wondering what ever became of this thing. I thought it may have been a hoax, but I guess not. I still think it might be a good idea in theory if it works right, but I just can't see how it possibly could. At the very least it should have a keyboard, mouse, and internet connection, so you can tweak and patch your games. And how could the joystick possibly work when very few PC games have good joystick support? For $300 - $400, why would anyone rather use this over a PC, unless they're really computer illiterate.
