Is there a way you can just use the avi can any dvd players read avi file and what format exacly would it be called if u can.

I also want to know if there's any programs where you can use avi's and converts to vcd well it's burning or right before on the fly

Sorry, if I don't think there's any way around it. Formatting a file to VCD takes a long, long time. At least that's been my experience.

it use to take me 6 to 8 hours to encode a 2hour movie with tmpgenc, so i gave in and bought a better pc- hp 563w 2.4 proc.,512,ram,80gig hd,16x dvd, and 48x cdr-w writer only $800 @ walmart, now i can encode any movie in less time than it would take to play it, for example hulk @ 2hrs 12 minutes took 1hr 24m to encode to vcd i think better cpu is only answer to faster encoding ;)
