Rips are for faggots who cant afford a cable connection/cant be arsed to wait for the download of a full iso. Why is a game so good? The movies, audio effects and the game play make a game good, only game play like a rip does? what the fuck is the point in playing it then as your missing what its meant to be like. Oh and I bet.hmmm $500 on Shoutman.

Yea Grand Theft Auto 3, but the problem is that no radiostations :( , but downloaded them and got them to work thanks to someone who gave a document that explained it which which goes with what TNTsnowmanTNT was saying that not all the files r included.

To me, radiostations are a plus, not a must.

Yea, but it adds to the fun of the game and without it u can't have as much fun. :)

That's why I said what I said. By "plus" I meant 'making the game better'. GTA3 still kicks ass without it though.

That GTA 3 Rip was good, and you could even add the radio stations so that was a plus. But for any other games like Enter the Matrix, a rip would ruin the game. There is so much storyline to it, and you won't see that with a rip

C&C Generals was a good rip. All that fit into 185mb. But the only thing bad about it is that it can't play multiplayer. Another good rip was GTA3. That was also a good game.

I totally agree. Rips work really well for some games, and don't for others.

What is the difference between a game rip and an ISO?
Could downloading a compressed version of all the files off the game's CD be classed as a rip?
I don't have much knowledge in the field of game piracy.

Well, a game rip is just the game, but it's missing some of its features. Like for the GTA3 rip, it's missing the radio stations.

I don't know about the compressed version being a rip. The release group MYTH generally does rips for many games but they once released Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 as a full version.

i think the actual meaning of 'rip' got lost in internetworld somewhere

it could mean

- taken from the CD and put on the hard-drive
- or -
- a game with the less important parts taken out (ie. ripped out)

Grand Prix 4 and C&C Generals are two excellent ones I've come across - only problem with rips is the lack of patching ability which is a major pisser for impatient gits like me who can't find the time on their 512k net connections to download bins :D
