This year alone, 106 people have died from SARS and it has been a top story for several months. While over 4,000 people die from the flu, no one even mentions it. This whole RIAA shpiel is a bunch of crap.

I think Paul has a new campain running, and well said.

I could only add be cautious and share away, since the worst that will be likely to happen at this point is you may get a letter from you ISP, BFD, don't worry to much.

Yup that's the worst that could happen, having to pay the licenses for the stuff you have pirtated. These are usually the ppl tha are in SERIOUS violation (like LOADS of sharing, several gigs a day). Anyway it's hard to pin stuff on them. Fine is a wron word I think, beacuse it's a civil matter, you pay for the licenses, and then you're cool.

For those of us who share files in the US, if by some very small chance the RIAA does find you, I would consider it an honor--and if you work the media correctly, it could launch a magnificent political career! If 200,000,000 are file sharing, think of the votes!
When "they" had the technology, they took us to the cleaners and there was nothing we could do about it. They got the gold, so now they can make the laws for themselves by corrupting the corrupt politicians. But now we got the technology on our side, so thank God (if you believe in it) and fuk'em!

Of those 200,000,000 how many get bombarded by popup ads from original kazaa? Sharman networks must make a killing.

Props to the makers of K lite and www.lavasoft.de for getting rid of the spyware :P

I don't know about anyone else but I personally don't consider a $15,000 dollar fine to be small. And i believe that's a little more than just the money you owe them if you were just paying the original money you owed them would it even still be called a "fine"?

your obviously right what concerns sharing - if you share your thoughts
and files of course openly with each other it could prevent violent and cirminal
acitons :)

a man and a woman who are angry and did not share their thoughts openly by talking with each other => this could probably lead to violent actions like killing
or beating each other :( ok, they are just humans, but it is better to share your thoughts openly to understand each other better also if it is difficult sometimes :)

~ Do you want to meet me? I am looking for people who uses Kazaa in my
area around nuremberg :) just to meet and exchange our thoughts and experience
have a nice walk or a bike tour :) ~

So.... no holds barred, eh?

Anyway.... trying to stop people from exchanging files via p2p is like trying to stop an avalanche.... a futile effort....
So... whatever laws and restrictions the bureauctic baboons will think up.... the p2p community will allways be 1 step ahead.... so let's give those "bb's" a great BIG MIDDLE FINGER for their efforts!!!

Ciao!

if the stats are true, Kazaa should have a "cancer troubled filesharers" category instead of "Fileshares vs. Copyright Holders" category it would be so much more relavent... so why are we worried about the RIAA? .. you could be the next for cancer...

If they sue you, that would be an interesting statistic to bring up... The fact that you've spent AU$62,500 surely means any debt's to the RIAA have already been paid... They owe you... B)

Man... I got a letter from my ISP... they warned me about sharing... I told them to .... off and reminded them that it would be illegal for them to review my usage as concurrent to the privacy rights of the US constitution and that if they were in some way monitoring my usage that I would soon be the new owner of their company.... I never heard anything fromm them again... I guess they forgot my number and email address? LOL Too bad... I was awaiting their reply

That is another reason why I completey prefer sharing my thoughts
openly - it makes you less angry and more happy and as we know from
science studies, people who laugh more often probaby live better :)

-> We have to share our thoughts openly to udnerstand each other better.
... and if we understand each other better we would be less angry probably.

that is it ...

ok, ~nice dreams to everyone who read this...

and everybody else of course... obviously...

what do you mean its not important? what if he just made it up? what if it IS true what the news says abou the number of people being prosecuted by the RIAA, then the message is a false message and the facts need to be listened to.

I say he should share his source, that way we will know that it is true, and have even more confidence in that the RIAA is just out to scare us (which it is though)
