hey there.
how you all doing?

i was playing around with kazupernodes and found out something amazing:
1)click on the "check status" button and wait for it to finish.
2)click the "localize" button and wait for it to finish.
3)reorganize the supernodes by pressing the "response time" button (in the coulomn itself).
4)find the supernode which is closest to your area and has the lowest response time.
5)double click him so he appears in the newq supernode bar.
6)click set new SN and restart kazaa.
7)test your download speed, it should have increased quite a bit.
8)if this didnt help, do steps 1-7 again till works.

it worked for me every time!!!

hope this helped, if it did ill be happy to hear about it!

Hmm..For some reason my supernode won't start up. Is something supposed to happen? lol. It just pauses all downloads and goes back to regular...

tralalala
07-09-2003, 01:40 PM
its supposed to, cos when you start a supernode, your actually reconnecting k-lite.
dont worry, if it doesnt speed 'em up, try again!

I have a question. When would you want to use a Client instead of a Super Node. And while I’m at it, what is the difference, I know the Super Node I someone that selects that option in Kazaa to become more of a structural part of the network (a hub); but what about Clients?

in KaZuperNodes, you can see all the different IPs and when you check their stats you will see some as "SN" for Super Node (green), some as "CL" for Client (yellow), and the rest as "?" which I guess just means that they aren't connected (red).

tralalala
07-10-2003, 06:29 AM
a client is in fact, kazaa lite itself.
the client is the program you use for downloading different material from (e.g imesh, grokster, kazaa, k-lite etc.).
you need a supernode to connect to so you can use the client (which is why at the startup of k-lite, you see at the bottom right "connecting...).

hope this helped,
tralalala

when I press 'Localize', the only country I see is US.

How come I don't see any supernodes from any other country

07-11-2003, 04:40 PM
yeah Tralala how come ? But first thank you A LOT.

i'm looking for the opposite, connecting to a supernode that is far away, i guess.
It's my experience that KL is not international, it's more like continental zone related. I did not have any one downloading from me (when i asked) that was non-european, although 1 claimed to be from Hawai and was of Germany :D

is there a way to see if people function as a supernode thrue the K-DAT files ?
somebody could provide me some adresses of supernodes around the world; would be nice to try out no ?

Yep, the defaults are all US Supernodes. So use the link from the above post to add some supernodes nearer to you. Well, even so, I live in Australia but the US supernodes that are listed worked faster for me anyways.

Depends what version of Kazaa i suppose.
It's definetly on the newest version from random Nut V.240 -
see the development thread for download instruction.
Failing that you can download the software seperately.

tralalala
07-12-2003, 10:03 AM
i have kazaa k++ 2.4.0 (by random nut) and it has kazupernodes in it.
the default supernodes are US which is why we localize them so you can see exactly where they are from (ontario, washington etc.).

i did this about 5 times and it did not do anything  i got about the same speed each time ...about 1/2 of my max...

also, why would the country or area matter? how does a closer supernode make a difference if info it can travel around the world instantly??

Cos unfortunately it doesn't travel instantly around the world - the same reason you want clsoe supernodes is the same reason you want to connect to game servers for online games near by, it simply helps maximize your connection! :P

Thanks to the above by the way - I didn't for some strange reason bother checking 4 pages back in the forum hence my lack of success before!

I have a question?

What is PORT: 1214 ?

Its found in Kazaa++ Options; Privacy....

There is a option there that says Do You Want To Disable Port 1214?

What should it be on???

Thanks.... :(

dudevenezuela
07-14-2003, 06:17 AM
The good thing of this if u chose one with response 0 , you are more likely to find more sources so the speed will be high

tralalala
07-14-2003, 04:46 PM
port 1214 is the port used by the RIAA. you want to disable it.
talking of that: what other port should i put in?? i have 1214 as my incoming connection port.
what port should i change it to (i have 2.1.0 build 3...).

thanks 4 help,

If you do this for 15-20 mins up can get pretty close if you get lots of more far away locations like i was but got closer after time

tralalala
07-16-2003, 03:41 PM
the port i use now is i think 1482 or something.
just make sure you DO NOT use the RIAA port (1214).

no problem knives, enjoy!.
and about the question before: to change a port number, go to kazaa lite options>firewall and at the bottom of the page it will have the port number.
i suggest port number 2464, it works great and is kinda "speedy" should i say also.

tralalala

every k-lite user needs to connect to a supernode to download stuff.
so the answer to your question is yes, 56k users also can use this great feature.

does using a Supernodes increase download speed or search availability?

tralalala
08-01-2003, 05:59 AM
it increases search availability thus, more sources = more speed.

@kb123: you can download kazupernodes from here (http://k-lite.tk/) under downloads and use it with version 2.1.0, it works great there aswell.

glad i could help you all,

well, as long as it helped you guys! :)

@ihadyourmomlastnight: 2.10 doesnt have blocked IP ranges in it, you need to use peerguardian on that version.
upgrade to 2.4.1 and youll get the blocked IP ranges, its great!!!

tralalala

iHadYourMomLastNight

thanx tralalala hahaha!

i was just wondering. i m running 2.4.1 now but my old version 2.0.2 ran so much smoother and didn't freez at all. i miss it :( but i don't want to sacrifice the security of 2.4.1 im running sygate with all the banned ip ranges put in the special rules (blocks them on all ports). and i have port 1214 disabled or watever the one kazaa uses is. i also update the banned ip ranges list that comes with Kazaa lite 2.4.1 once a week. i wonder if all this is enuff. let me know wat ya thinx! lata!

tralalala
08-03-2003, 06:35 AM
well, if you want to go back to 2.0.2 then you should make sure you disable port 1214 (by putting in options>k-lite options>firewall> and inserting the port number 2464 instead of 1214), this port (2464) seems to be the best yet, ive done some testing on it.
ohpe this will help you make up your mind :)

don't get mad at me for having my own business and being my own boss and having more free time on my hand, second so sorry for trying to help people by puting up l link for a visual with obviously has bothered you, and third at least most of my post come from helping people in problem world and question world, now if that bothers you and you want me to go get a life because i'm spending a lot of time helping people then maybe you need to take a good long look at your self, because the problem is with you and not me boss <_<

over 50% of my posts are in questions...
but i dont go and post in every thread, if the answer has been posted, i leave it be.... unlike a few times ive seen you just put in a post saying "yup, yes indeed thats what you should do", its also sad that you spend so much time on the computer and cant do something else like reading a book, going out with friends etc.... but if this is what suits you, i cant say a word :)

oh and POPO, glad i could help :) :)

Well, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but my download speed is not really improving. On the other hand, I never complained about my speed anyway. B)

You find favoritelists of UK nodes in this thread (http://www.fasttrackhelp.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5650).

There is not a lot of UK nodes I have found.

I am proud to be british... BUT i live in israel... but i was born in britain!!

I use american nodes... but i still get better speeds with a node i chose and not just jumpibg nodes.

glad i could clear it up (i hope  )

your download speed depends on the # of sources for it and their upload speed, and don't be fooled by what you see in the search window they are not an indication of who is available for connection, if you want change supernodes to see if you get lucky here is the manual (http://free.pages.at/ftfakes/kzn140/quickmanual.html) good luck
