The further into the thread, the time when Kazaa (though i dare say it's mostly K-Lite) is said to have been good drifts from 2-3 to 7-8 years :D

K-Lite (both Random Nuts' 2.0-based or Nsanes' 2.7-based) were good P2P programs for older (one should read this as "more popular/widely spread" rather than of certian age, though it's not a farfetched opinion) files. And with hashcodes and some nod-jumping getting sources for your download wasn't so much of a problem.

As for the viruses/trojans/maleware:

It is not unheard of to download such from torrents and the use of unmodded (i.e. loader, blacklist tool) Kazaa bundled with GAIN is the trademark of the unaware or fools. Everybody's been a newbie, some are just too ignorant to change.

Back to the topic.

I remember the times when K-Lite has shown that, at peak times, there were over 4.5 milions of other users. Though that was about 6 years ago, and todays .5 milions don't sound impressing, it is a possibility that a large portion of the userbase is, in any way, fond of the program and share valuable files.

This is not an eMule thread.

twe4k
03-31-2008, 11:01 PM
haha the way I see it, for me it was like an evolution...
first there was napster, that opened my eyes and made me realise the potential of the internet :P
then there was kazaa and limewire, like pretty much everyone, to discover music but pretty much limited to that
now there's bittorrent, and I'm discovering the great communities behind private trackers (especially libble, my first tracker :D)
and soon I shall enter the world of newsgroup, now that I found a nice ISP providing access for almost no additional cost

cant believe this is still alive!

No kidding I second that...

Most P2P apps are worthless, excessive queue wait times, slow speeds, fake files, viruses, cracked/ripped up apps that you weren't looking for, etc., etc...

P2P apps are only good for getting tunes, forget getting apps, games, or movies off of them...

Why bother with these apps anymore when there are GREAT public and private torrent trackers and Usenet...

I say take a vote, kill Kazaa and kill this thread... ;)

PEACE

Spammer, we don't need to know if Limewire or Bittorrent is better.

..I suppose you didn't realise that the original site owner is also the developer of Kazaa-lite.. and he is probably checking your account, to delete it, at this very moment!~:w00t:

Hurrah!!

1/2 million plus users on line, we are fighting back

though I admit I have used bittorrent for the odd thing here and there

and Limewire!

Wow you really hit the shit.

Dude stick with torrents with the use an IP blocker and you should be fine.

Back in the day I used Kazaa for everything. Then as time progressed dummy files, viruses, and tons of other garbage began to perpetrate their downloads so I gave it up. After being introduced to torrents I could never go back to that type of system.

I had the same problems with Limewire, it found fake files that was called with fake names, but when you tried to play those files, nothing happened.... There is also files named with real names into an .exe file, which noobs are downloading, and then you are in trouble.. just virus and trojans overall

Which kazaa client is the best in your opinion?

None of them.

Anyone and everyone should avoid all Kazaa related programs like the plague.

They are chock full of viruses and poor quality files.
