I have XP. im having a problem and you guys might know how to help. about 90% of the time i tell my cpu to turn off (I go to start, then turn off computer, then turn off) while its turning off, a message comes up asking me if i want to end a program called MESSAGE.APP
it give me an option to end now, or it will end by itself. if i let it end by itself though, i dont think the computer will turn off.

do you guys knwo what might be causing this, or how i could fix it?

I think cbb is right. I run XP as well and I just did a complete search for any files or folders containing ' message.app ' and came up with zip. However, I uninstalled Messenger a long time ago...so, chances are that's yer huckleberry. ;)

Yes. My system came packaged with it and like I say, I chucked it.....too many security holes. You can uninstall it through your control panel > add/remove programs > add/remove windows components.

edit; Actually, billy's right again, MSN messenger is removable too....also a worthwhile uninstall if you don't plan to use it.

umm goto C:\Program Files\ now rename "Messenger" to "MessengerDONTUSE", that way Windows Messenger cannot startup, thus maybe solveing your problem.
