Help with windows xp

gone back to windows xp from vista as didnt like it. My laptop previously picked up my wireless router fine in vista but cant work out how to set it up in xp? ne ideas I have a via compatable fast ethernet adapter??

installed atheros wireless utility but doesn work. my laptop is equium a100 psaaq which driver do i need to install?

I was googling for fun and see there's two drivers , A wireless lan driver " and " wireless client manager ?

managed to sort it out can get on net now just having problems playing games. says failed to load direct x all the time??

It seems there are 2 drivers, one for Atheros (http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/wlesslan-20070731142747.html), one for Intel (http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/wlesslan-20070716135646.html).

Similarly, there's a Wireless Lan Client Manager for each: Atheros (http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/Satellite/sa100_spa100_ea100/xp/wlesscmgr-xp-411231i153.zip), Intel (http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/Satellite/sa100_spa100_ea100/xp/wlesscmgr-xp-10102w61.zip).

you can use the dxdiag command to check the state of directx on your computer. maybe looking at the info there can give some clue abot the problem?

Just a guess but you " went back to XP " I'm thinking you did n't install your Video drivers ? You may be using the Windows geniric ones , try updating them .

I had a similar problem once and I went to run,opened services.msc, and turned on wireless zero configeration. This is also if your wireless software wont start up or freezes, you should be able to use the WZC. As far as the directx problem, make sure all drivers are up to date.
