If a PM I received on another site can be trusted, HDbits has been hacked and passwords released. Get ready for another bit-hdtv fiasco.

Their irc channel advertises this downtime as a simple maintenance like the last time.

Don't assume anything until there is proof.
I heard rumours that their pass database has been leaked :(
if your talking about the rumors that came from a MASS PM on another Tracker, they have revoked it with another MASS PM :)
hope that wasn't hacked ..still down :(

BitmeTV sent a follow-up newsletter saying that hdbits wasn't hacked.
Anyway, everyone should use different passwords everywhere so even if hackers will somehow get password for one site in in plain text they will only get one account not all of them.

Well, some people tend to use the same password on multiple sites. So if you get the username/pw list from one site, you can get into quite a few other sites.
Lesson to be learned. Use different passwords. Get a password management program if you have alot of trackers you support.
its back and the whole HDBits was hacked was a mistake
it was jsut the old news about BitHDTV

Yes, apologies for the mass pm - it was quoting another user who made a typo and meant to say bit-hd. But the information is still fully relevant. Regardless - always use different passwords on each site you are on. Also swebits and a few more sites have been hacked recently. Just be careful - ok.
