NEW YORK — New England coach Bill Belichick was fined the NFL maximum of $500,000 Thursday and the Patriots were ordered to pay $250,000 for videotaping an opponent's offensive and defensive signals.

Of course it is. However, you can't use video recording equipment or, to my knowledge, things like parabolic mics.

I think they should have lost draft picks, had a hefty fine, and forfeited the game.

It would have been perfect to make an example of a team that has had 3 SB wins in this decade and it would have given a win to a rival coach in the same division.

That could have made a difference in the playoffs.

well.. thats kinda the way its done here if a team trys to cheat for example have more players on the field they have competition points taken away from them (2 for a win ) and thats it

giving the Jets the win isnt fair for other teams going for a playoff game if they finish level

I agree with your last sentence. However, a forfeit around here means the other team won by default.
