Can an American member pls answer me one thing - Is there a demand for British movies over there? :w00t:

Ones I'd recommend from the past decade include Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels <- Get ASAP!
Snatch <- Get ASAP!
East is East
Bridget Jones' Diary - If you can stand the semi-feminist crap that takes up a bit
Trainspotting

Just please - for f***'s sake - Just don't, under any circumstances, download Charlotte Church's "film" :P :D

If you want to see the Brits have a stab as some horror, you can try "The Hole" - Not up to scratch as the other mentioned films are, but it is decent if you don't mind the teen sex, drink & drugs and the psychological f***-up midway.

I just convinced you to watch it, didn't I? :D

Dog Soldiers

ps MetroStars 24hr Party People is good film I agree, was a Big New Order / Joy Division /Warsaw fan and many other on Factory records. And being from NW England, I saw a lot of Tony Wilson on Granada Reports etc

Also did you notice it was Andy Serkis (Gollum) who played the genius producer Martin Hannet ?

Charlotte Church had a film?! Good job I never saw it, let alone heard of it when it was out, otherwise I would have been forced to put bullets in my head. Repeatedly.

Trust me - You don't want to.

I think it didn't even make £900 at her home town of Cardiff, let alone the rest of the UK :D

I think a few might have wanted to watch it to question its cultural value...but they ran out of bullets ;)

All these films are great suggestions, however even tho Britain hasn't had its claim to fame for movies, well we are the gods of rock n roll.

we brought you

Led Zeppelin
Rolling Stones
brought together Jimi Hendrix Experience
Cream + Eric Clapton
Slash was part British
Iron Maiden i believe
Black Sabbath
AC/DC (although park Aussie)
Mark Knopfler
The Beatles
Radiohead

many other huge classics, but my brain storming wasn't going too well.

yes definetely. i think a lot of us are getting tired of hollywood crap and are looking for foreign films to fill the void. And not all of us speak another language, thus, thus english films are quite popular.

Bridget Jones Diary?

:glag:

I really liked Lock, Stock and definitely Snatch. Mean Machine and 28 Days Later weren't bad either.

28 Weeks Later should be pretty good as well.

D

Also any James Bond movie (Well I thought they were British - Weren't most done for Pinewood Studios or something?)

the early ones were done at pinewood studios, but at some point they moved them to hollywood. I think Moonraker was the first american bond film.

Full Metal Jacket was an English film that was quite good in my opinion.

Also high up on my list are snatch, Lock stock and two smoking barrels, the hole (not scary, but a pretty good thriller), any monty python, and the italian job.
