I don't believe this is right. where did you read about it?

The sale of invites to this site is strictly forbidden and results in both the inviter and invitee losing their accounts. If you come across an auction from someone claiming to have permission to sell invitations to this site, it's a lie. Do not believe positive feedback ratings; if you buy an invite, we will know about it and you will lose your account.

I'm not sure exactly where I saw it.. possibly here, or another bittorrent website. I believe the guy said he paid his friend who then bought an invite from TL. I guess the way it was set up, only current users were able to purchase extra invites. Does that sound right?

The only thing this sounds like is that someone made a donation to TL, became VIP and received an invite. He then gave this invite to someone in exchange for the amount he paid to received it (kind of what ppl do in ScT). This still is very strange (and unnecessary) because PU receive invites, you don't have to buy them like in ScT.
