View Full Version : My Eyesbrow

Lamsey
07-07-2003, 07:39 PM
This post is for all those kind people who keep informing me that I have one eyesbrow, or those who ask whether I do or not after seeing my new avatar.

- Yes, I know I have one eyesbrow.
- No, I am not going to get it plucked or shaven because I don't care about it enough.
- The proper term is 'eyesbrow'; "unibrow" is just plain wrong.

Hope this clears things up for everyone :)

Eyebrow = a line of hair that goes over one eye.

Eyesbrow = a line of hair that goes over both eyes.

And no @Bender - unlike Skweeky, I don't want to go out with a character from Futurama! :P

I already said, I really don't care enough to go to the bother of shaving/waxing/plucking.

And yes, Shaving would make it grow back thicker.

electrolysis.

supposedly it makes the hair follicle die. all i remember electrolysis doing was copper plating metal in chemistry using a copper sulphate solution.

i saw this on www.fakeadvertisers.co.uk .......

For one low, low payment of £800, you can be rid of any of the following:

monobrows, moustaches, ear and nose hair.
chest, back, and shoulder hair.
hairy palms treated for £100 extra. (no guarantee of lasting effects).

No, shaving is no big deal. I have a potential monobrow myself. I just take one swipe at the end of regular shaving and I pass as a normal human.

You don't care? You are a fine looking young man and all people want to talk about is your brow. Take the 2 seconds it takes per week to address the issue.

Anyway, I'm glad for Weemouse that your underarm stink is also not "worth the effort".

Just do it, like yesterday, unless this is what you stand for. I would chose something else, myself.

Riddler

Liam, may I say.....that is a fine brow you have there. My aunt Gilda, who was born in Hungary, used to tell me the story of how all the women in her neighborhood were always swooning over her future husband because it was considered a sign of intelligence to have brow hair that was not separated. The belief was; if a man was unfortunate enough to have been born with a gap in his brow, his wits would slowly leak out of said gap and over time become an incompetent fool. Sadly, that physical trait was not passed on to me but I have compensated for the meager growth above my eyes, since I was a young boy, by concentrating extremely hard during even the smallest of tasks. Over the years, this practice has permanently furrowed my forehead to the point where the giant knot that has formed offers the illusion of a gapless brow and I am confident that all women everywhere must use unimaginable self-control to keep from falling at my feet. Unibrows of the world.............I say; if you got it, flaunt it !!

No offence taken.

As I said, I don't care enough about how I look to do something about it, but it does irk me when every man and his dog feels they have to comment on it.
No individual comment annoys me; rather it is the inundation of comments which bug me. The reason I created this topic was to let people discuss it sensibly(ish) without it popping up everywhere else in the board - isaw it coming up in about 4 different areas of the board when I made the change.

For the record, Lamsey's reference (eyesbrow) should be given deferrence; it is technically as correct, perhaps more so, than "unibrow", and, after all, it is his. I would also like to note the inclusion of the sibilant "S" in Lamsey's version adds immeasurably to the pleasure of it's pronunciation.

I applaud this expression of uniqueness, typical of what we have come to expect of him.

Do what you will, Liam-however, in the unlikely event we ever stumble over one another in a pub, I would appreciate your leaving it as is for purposes of recognition.

I read somewhere that men should pluck (or remove) the eyebrow hairs between the eyebrows, prior to applying for a job.
