I have tried to register, the first time I was rejected  ..dunno why

8 days later (today) I've tried to apply again because in the email they said try again and wait at least a week and I'm getting the message - You've already applied.

What to do now?

Wait a little longer or try asking in their irc channel maybe?

Try to ask to staff on IRC. :)

TheDVDClub now has its own IRC Server #TheDVDClub (irc://irc.thedvdclub.org:6667/TheDVDClub) on IRC.TheDVDClub.Org

Does anyone like this whole application process? For me I wonder if it seems a little harsh.

I think the application process is great. It allows people who are good BT users but not the energy or desire to jump into forums like this and trade or network to get accounts. At the end of the day if they aren't good members they get the boot.

The app process is awesome. If you have good ratios on good trackers you get in. No need to search for an invite. I got in no problem it took a bout a day.

Ah so the people being denied are people that either don't have good ratio's or significant proof to be allowed in.

its more than ratio that decided weather not you are accepted.

Just wondering, would you hold speed against someone filling out the application? Well, speed alone?

What else plays into effect besides ratio?

This application process seems like a good idea. It keeps everyone honest about their stats/ratios and seems to weed out the users that give everyone else a bad rap.

What else plays into effect besides ratio?

I imagine that many of the Mods have/or can get access to memberships at the other trackers, in which case they could perform a "quasi-background check".....look through your activity, posts, etc to make sure you're a good candidate for their site.

Although it sounds like alot of work to do for every applicant.......

@ Grind$oFine: NO
@ briand5379: Thats a secret
@ jandrews404: You never know what we can do.

I had an account there for a week, then i got banned for a funny reason ;)
I suspected that someone had my password, since my mail were stolen before.
so I changed the mail and password, and they ban me for acc trading, but i didn't change the ip or anything else! I get to their irc, their admin who banned me says sorry and unban me, I logged in but after 10 minutess I get banned again, this time ip banned :P

so after that I just didn't care anymore, I wasn't in the moog for arguing atm..

What's up with that???

Nope,

We mainly look at your reason for wanting to join the DVDClub. We then check to make sure your nicks are the same on different trackers. If they are not usually means something fishy. If you are not a member of other trackers we search anyways (Make sure you aren't lying to us).

It is a long process, but well worth it for the quality of users we have.

AnesZverotic, We have reasonable staff. I am sure if you got IP banned than you did something to deserve it.

FYI - If you actually used your site name here I could have checked and told you the exact reason.

i fill the apllication two times and i got good ratio in the sites that i put the links and the two times it said "Your application for a new user account on TheDVDClub.org has been assessed by staff, and unfortunately at this moment in time you`ve been unsuccessful, please try again in the future."

i dont understand why:(

I tried to get some of my buddies to get me an invite code really quick because I was in a hurry. I then saw the application process..I filled it out. When I can home from racquetball, someone had pm'd me at SCT to confirm it was me. Very soon, I was emailed an invite code. Very efficient application system imo. :)

If you actually filled out the user app with the name you use here I could tell you to. But since you don't I can't.

So sorry

I like the application system a lot. It helps weed out people who actually want to use TDC and people who just want it to add to their collection or trade it off.

If you aren't personally going to use your account, they won't accept you. It's pretty simple.

Any word when the application system will come back? I think I messed up my 1st application and would really like another chance.

Hey guys, how do you actually give proof ? Im a member on a few torrent sites and have good ratios on all. Is it safe to give my user name or other information they request for appications ?

kaoblanco
10-03-2007, 06:56 AM
I just linked to my profiles at various trackers. If you have nothing to hide and no dirt, then I'd say you're just fine. That's just about the only way to give true proof, as any screenshot or the like can be photoshopped or faked with javascript. :/

Meaning, yes, that's precisely what I did and I deem it safe (though not 100% of the time nor with any tracker/staff, but with TDC.. sure).

Though, and while I by no means mean you specifically, if someone were to present as proof tracker accounts they'd only traded into, and thus could be part of a bad invite tree or have an otherwise black mark, I imagine that'd be a poor choice on their part.

they need an invite code? dont they?

kaoblanco
10-03-2007, 12:56 PM
They? TDC? or new members?

This thread is about the application system TDC was running a while back. In leiu of (well, in tadem with) the invite system.

Sure, if you have a friend who's got an invite then you can get in the normal way (which is yes, a code system), but the discussion here is about TDC taking applications from prospective members. :)

Wow another 2 year bump! Good job.

PS: You can't receive PMs your first 30 days here. And this is not the way to get a TDC invite. Use the request section. you also have to wait 30 days to gain the ability to post there.

Thank you for your suggestion, I hope to be able to enter this site, in 30 days!

My opinion is TDC really fell off around a year ago. BitHQ is much more active and a better DVD site.

In any case, go HD, it's the new DVD.
