I just installed kapersky Internet Security v7.0something.
I am on vista business.
Since the new install utorrent is slow in getting the high speeds, 15mins before it hits the usual max download speed, uploads are less than a quarter than what they should be.
and only one or two get uploads, i know this is not normal.

I had KIS6 installed earlier and utorrent worked perfectly, immediately.

I have no clue what settings i may need to change.

Please advise.
I am a noob with kapersky.
I can post images of my settings if so desired.

I had no trouble with the two programs running side by side , my problem Zed was the black listed key I have .

You have to open ports and create a rule for KIS .

Agreed. If your having trouble connecting to peers sounds like you're not connectible and need to open your ports. Use the UTorrent Speed Test to see if your ports are properly forwarded.

Ya Seer, I found a step by step setup but it was Win XP and Utorrent 1.6.1 I used . Think it should be the same but fuck if I can find it now . :dabs: Not sure if it was Kaspersky's help form , Utorrnent or mabye Portforward's . See what I mean .

I've never used kaspersky so I don't know how to set it up :P but this might help.

Thanks for the info, and links, working on it - what a headache.
Where the hell in kis does one "open ports and create a rule for KIS"
I can not even find where one changes rules for applications, eg utorrent

@peatoss - yeah those keys where a real bitch, but i won in the end.

I actually went back to F-Secure Internet Security because of the KIS 7 key problem . Why is Utorrent so hard to config with a good AIO security anyway ?

Should be a default setup for christ sake . Or better yet Zed, use the KIS 7 anti virus and a separate firewall like Comodo , Look "n" Stop , ZA etc. I'm having the same settings problem with Utorrent and F-Secure .

Have you tried telling KIS to not monitor encrypted traffic? I think the option is turned off (so it is monitoring all traffic) by default.

ok i think i solved the problem, atleast the speeds are correct now.
Could you just look at the screen shot and tell me if those settings are correct.
I simply clicked on "allow all" template.
Or is that dangerous?
or should i use a different template eg download manager, etc?

You 'v allowed all for Utorrent , which is how I would do it with out the guide . Your speeds are fine , does your Tracker see you ? Allow incoming connections I mean ( for uploading ) .

To put you at ease Zed , what does a Firewall test tell you ?

Oh good glad you got it sorted . I'm trying Norton 360 as we speak . not bad but slowwww
start up , memory hog Yada Yada . We all know the Norton drill .

Funny tho how it opened ports and config itself . Made me think I'm open to attacks awell . You know this thread bothers me as I could of done better if found the guide .

A good firewall is one that questions every move we make , sadly we noobs turn off all the protection, to add a port or share our files .

i think you should add the default utorrent port to so you can become conectable > click on add and add port ( local i think ) and add the port utorrent is using and problem fixed :)
