Hi all! Anyone know what's a good tracker to find DVD's of TV shows? Not just video files but actual re-encoded DVD's. Thanks!!

I've been downloading many TV-DVDRs with my Usenet account in the previous months, most likely 150GB of that stuff total.

TvTorrents is great for xvid stuff but you won't be happy about their DVDR torrents, because they have none. BitMeTV is better in that regard but it is far from complete.

Your best bet (for recently released stuff) is a good allround 0day tracker like TL which has currently 675 television DVDR's. I don't know of any longtime seeded torrents of that category because downloads don't live forever on TL and the same is true for Usenet downloads with retention times of 100-200 days.

Usenet (what I got this week on retail DVDs)

Nip n Tuck - Season 4
Smallville - Season 6
Boston Legal Season 3
Robot Chicken - Season 2
Numb3rs - Season 3
Las Vegas - Season 4
The Unit - Season 2
Stargate Atlantis - Season 3 (menus goosed though!)
Family Guy - Season 5
Ghost Whisperer - Season 2
Dexter - Season 1
Criminal Minds - Season 2
The Shield - Season 5
Jericho - Season 1
Lost - Season 3

All from one group, and there was more I didn't get.

And no ratios to worry about! :D

Why wait until you have faster connection, you get better sustained speeds on usenet over any BT connection no matter how fast your line is, I can max out my line 24/7 forever on usenet.

As for being available on trackers, who has the time & space for making available for a long seeding time 4, 5, 6 & 7 DVDRs of many TV Shows, that list I did is over 60 DVDRs worth, I doubt you will ever find a better resource for TV DVDRs than usenet, it is really worth learning the ropes and then you at least have the choice of where to get your warez from :)

blackbird, those are generally scene releases like ...

2007-09-09 23:17:40 Tv Boston.Legal.S03D7.COMPLETE.NTSC.DVDR-WATDVD
2007-09-09 23:09:40 Tv Boston.Legal.S03D6.COMPLETE.NTSC.DVDR-WATDVD
2007-09-09 22:58:43 Tv Boston.Legal.S03D5.NTSC.DVDR-WATDVD
2007-09-09 22:31:15 Tv Boston.Legal.S03D4.NTSC.DVDR-WATDVD
2007-09-09 22:02:13 Tv Boston.Legal.S03D3.NTSC.DVDR-WATDVD
2007-09-09 21:27:21 Tv Boston.Legal.S03D2.NTSC.DVDR-WATDVD
2007-09-09 19:02:55 Tv Boston.Legal.S03D1.NTSC.DVDR-WATDVD

... for example (for the sake of convenience copied from doopes.com). What tv-stuff is currently available on DVDR can be easily viewed in the Newsgroup section of FST, they do have a terrific and nearly complete list of releases there and you can filter them for TV-DVDR also.

There are non-scene sources on newsgroups (for pretty much everything: music, movies, tv) but they're clearly in the minority.

In addition to a place like TvT you can try TDC and then there's BitHQ which has both American and Asian TV series.

All 0day trackers had these. But old shows and DVD9s are nowhere to be found.

DVD-Rs are not allowed on TVT, so nobody will find them there.

@sgt major

what sites do u use for ng links?

seems ur into TV like myself!

SgtMajor

If you are into usenet, then what I am about so say will make perfect sense, if you are not, then I can see massive whoosh coming on :)

I have 4 things for usenet, 2 clients (newsbin pro & newsleecher), 1 usenet provider (giganews) & 1 indexing site (newzbin.com).

Giganews gives me top speeds with 180-200 days retention, there are cheaper options, but they are cheaper for a reason!

I use newsbin pro as my client to download headers for my favourite usenet groups. My favourite groups include the DVDR groups like a.b.dvdcore & a.b.dvdr - these 2 groups carry my favourite releases for DVDRs & TV DVDRs, so I rarely need to check other groups, but I have music DVDRs group, gaming groups, ISO Apps groups all in there (the reason I do that is not everything gets reported and I can check the headers to see if there is anything I missed)

But I tend to find that 0day trackers are tops for apps anyway.

I use newsleecher with supersearch to search for anything I want or need and then download (new games from any platform from any 0day tracker is generally on usenet - I use the tracker to get the filename then search using newsleecher to find the files and download them, sometimes I use the data to seed back to trackers :D) - great for like stranglehold, I got 2TB so far out of that one!

And finally I use newzbin.com to do a quick search for stuff if I am looking for something in particular, or checking to see what has been indexed by the staff (remember - not everything gets indexed).

So it's not sites I rely on, but having the knowledge of the trackers, and by checking the usenet groups & the indexing site, there isn't much that I miss.

However, take the new Resi Evil Extinction DVDR that's on TL - never appeared on usenet yet, so you do need to keep your wits about you!

You just outlined my daily itinerary! ('cept i search NZBMatrix and Newzbin)

I also use supersearch daily to search for particular scene groups just to ensure i don't miss anything

TvT may not have DVD persay but they do carry avi and mkv files that are DVD and HD quality which can be easily converted to DVD by a simple program such as convertx.

Daniel
09-30-2007, 09:49 AM
briand5379, please never ever suggest re-encoding a mkv into PAL/NTSC resolutions and MPEG1 codec. To many people, that's a sin ;)

The charm of DVDR releases is the nice ability to burn complete and working DVD's in a few minutes without any hassle while doing it on your own can create quite a few problems. There are no menus if you decide to re-encode from another source, it's guaranteed that the quality is lower than the source (also because some groups use re-encoded DVDR releases instead of originals) and it also takes up lots of time, yours and your CPU's. There are many benefits in downloading complete DVDR's from the start if you intend that stuff to end up on your TV screen. All of that converting should be a last resort if your desired format is not available and even then you can choose other alternatives (like linking your hd-stuff to your TV) that work just as well if not better.

The point is there are options. If you can't find what you want then make your own.
