canadians can still browse demonoid and get its torrents. they just need a proxy. like tor.
you could then use utorrent through tor to announce demonoid's tracker to get the list of ip adress, turn the proxy off, and ghost-leech. demonoid doesn't care about your ratio, so it's ok too seed as long as you uphold the moral responsibility to seed back 1:1.
if you do this, you're ratio will not be recorded because the ip address you use to log onto the site will be different than the one you use to download. still, it's better than no demonoid, right?

Try anonymouse.org like blackbird recommended. I tried it with torrentspy which blocks people in the US and it comes up just fine.

my two cents would be that there should be no more or less worry than what you should exercise already. Each country has varying approaches to torrent sits from a legal perspective. My guess is that this latest bust is more about killing the dealer than the users (so to speak!) and it makes sense from a purely practical sense. After all, if you wanted to kill a tree, you wouldn't just pull off the leaves (us), you would want to rip out the roots (tracker).
