love is wanting to be with a person and caring for them so much that it hurts when you're apart....it's thinking about that person 24/7 and feeling happiest when you're in their company.........

or something like that!

Pffffffffft marriage means nothing! My parents got married when i was 7 and i used to get made fun of for that.....but marriage is just a wee bit of paper with your names signed on it....if you love someone then you don't have to get married to prove it!

Marriage is the biggest cause of divorce!

Nah if you love someone then just be with them...if you fall out of love then at least there will be no messy divorce!

Nothing will ever get back the time i wasted on my ex's....money is really insignificant...cause i can always get it back...i just can never get back the time where i could of had the one for me...

"Dad, I can't decide if I should get married or not..."

"But we already know what you are going to do, don't we? Already, I can see the chain-reaction--the chemical precursors that signal the onset of an emotion, designed specifically to overwhelm logic and reason--an emotion that is already blinding you from the simple and obvious truth...she is going to diviorce you, and there is nothing you can do to stop it."

What Is Love?

An illusion brought on by excess serotonin and dopamine in the brain :D

You can artificially recreate it with MDMA/ecstasy.

love is friendship that has caught fire,
it is quiet understanding, mutual cinfidence, sharing and forgiving.

it is loyalty through good and bad times,
it settles for less than perfection, and makes allowances
for human weaknesses.

love is content with the present, it hopes for the future,
and it doesn't brood over the past.

it's the day-in day-out chronicle of irritations, problems,
compromises, small disappointments, big victories and
working toward common goals.

if you do not have love in your life,
no matter what else there is, it's not enough.

There is a difference.

Love induced by ecstasy wares off.

True love is for life.

I think the divorce rate in most Western countries shows that either very few people find true love or it is an illusion.

well, i think the rate of marriages ending in divorce lately has more to do with people just looking for some one to love them (whether real or not) for the moment and not thinking a year down the line. the problems with all the divorce rate studies is that they are only looking at say the last ten years. they do not take into account at all the people that were married before their time frame and continue to be married after the study. this can seriously skew the results.

You don't have to be married to love or to be in love. You can ask weemouse that!

WOW!!
This is a question that has kept philosophers busy for centuries, and you want it answered in the lounge, of all places?

Actually, I don't think there is one, unique type of love.

I used to love my wife so much, I could physically feel it. After 19 years of marriage, it kind of changes, but that doesn't mean there's no more love, does it?
Also, it has nothing to do with sex. You can have sex with someone else, but still love your partner, IMHO.

And what about the love you feel for your dog, or cat?
I can tell you, I loved my dog very much, but it wasn't the same as the love for another human being. (maybe stronger, because it was unconditional)

I love my PC too, so there's a third kind of love for ya.

You don't have to be married to love or to be in love. You can ask weemouse that!

And i will tell anyone who asks the exact same as what Nigel told you!

marriage is just a legal thing.

I totally agree.
But I have a paradox
I am engaged but we have no intention to get married
but we don't want to call of the engagement as we love each other

If you ask why we got engaged then I can't tell you exactly it just seemed right at the time.

Fair enough!

I don't actively disagree with getting married....I may very well get married one day if I can be bothered, but equally, i wouldn't be bothered if i didn't marry either.

Jus give me cheeeez and I'll be happy!

:)

PS are you following me, Neil?

I think for most marriage is perfect but not for us we feel there is no need.

often elusive, often overwhelming, often extremely comfortable and soothing, giving of and receiving from, respecting and caring, thinking outside oneself and feeling cherished when thought of.........laughing at yourself with someone who will laugh with you ......never to be taken for granted or abused, but to be cherished and to cherish......

love means showing respect towards one another and have faith among each other.

love is not only between two lovers but it is also between father and son, mother and son, father and daughter and also among friends.
