I was wondering how obvious it is when you read someone's post what country they're from.

that's true but I've spent some time in some hostels and I've picked up alot of foreign languages and slang. The way irish girls say "you're man" is so addictive and funny because in this country it's more of a black thing but when they say it(irish) it sounds crazy to me.

if the person has a link to a "geordie-english" dictionary in their sig, then you can work out they're a "special" type of british. If they have a Manchester Utd flag, then they definitely aren't english :P

I've been visiting this place for 8 months now, and my American English spelling is now thwarted. I am beginning to spell my words incorrectly (at work on the PC and at home) from being used to reading all of that bloody text from the British mates.

In America, we have African-Americans, although they were born and raised in America all of their lives. Does England have African-English, or Sweden have African-Swedens, Does Africa have African-Africans?

Interesting point.
I always wondered. If I were to be Jewish, would I be a Jewish Belgian, or a Belgian Jew?

I want to comment on the swede thing. I dated a girl from Sweden and also met a very nice guy from sweden who trained me in the ways of his country. Sweden has black people but they have more of arab origin. From Iran for instance. I asked if those people often learned the local language and he said "yes, but not very well". There is alot of political freedom in Sweden, I think some of the immigrant people claim political asylum. Also the government gives aid to get them started in their new country.

Edit:ron i'm almost positive it would be "belgian jew"

If somebody says "I'm Pissing Off To Blackpool", they aren't from Canada, USA, or Mexico.

If someone posts this it means they celebrated 4th of July and there is a decent chance they're from the states.

You really don't have to study syntax or slang to tell.

All Americans have six toes.

Just look at their feet.
