bout how much energy dose a computer use compared to other stuff like lights,tv's,clock, fan etc .......

Not sure. Don't think it would be more then a few lights worth.

I'd estimate probably between 100 - 300 W depending on whats running (eg load on processor and what drives are running) NB its a guess based on the max rating of the power supply and the fact that the power supply wastes some power. Edit: So between 1 and 4 average light bulbs approximately

Laptops run around 90W and desktop PCs between 200W and 600W (most are in the 200W-300W range).
