joystick, how to get them work

ok i bought an Logitech Freedom2.4 joystick to play blazing angels 2. now i thought joysticks are as simple as keyboard and they can run without any extra efforts, apparently it is not, so how to get them work. i installed logitech's wingman software and added some games and profiles to it and run them through it but joysticks wont work in the game.
any help

nevermind i already returned it, totally useless, only tried it on BF2 and its was horrible.
