When the movie released to the Internet, most sites have uploaded after pre time.
So what's the first source then?

Original source (dvd factory, studio leak, etc). --> scene topsites --> private IRC channels --> newsgroups --> private trackers --> public trackers

IRC, NGs & Trackers are all at the same level.

I disagree. Obviously, the process isn't exactly the same on every release, but when something gets leaked from the scene to the public, it sure as hell doesn't start on the Pirate Bay.

Because real actual people with an understanding about file sharing understood the philosophy behind what Radiohead's intentions were, and decided they agreed with what they are standing for and therefore made an informed decision not to allow that album on their trackers, but to ask potential downloaders to go directly to the download link provided and pay what you think it is worth.

NGs does not have that personal touch, so in that case it wasn't a race.

<< What he said. :D
Many of the top torrent communities decided not to up Radiohead's new cd because they wanted to support the "pay what you believe its worth" concept

Good point. Okay,

Suppliers (ie dvd factories, studio leaks) --> Scene topsites --> private IRC channels --> Newsgroups, Public IRC channels, High-level private trackers (ie ftn, ScT) --> low-level private trackers (ie Torrentleech) --> Public trackers

Agree?

Nope, some uploaders for some torrent sites have direct access to topsites.

And does it even matter? Like who cares?

Well it wont be on Oink because of the low quality and a lot of trackers I think actually would try to support such an idea as the one radiohead is trying.

I know I would at least. :)

I realize the process can vary. I just meant this to be a chart of a typical release.

And no, it doesn't matter. But then again, nothing on FST really matters. It's all just conversation. I wasn't trying to bicker or cause an argument.
