is there anyone here still on winmx ,i am im on private trackers they are alot of good communities im on 33 of em have a lot of friends there as i do here im on winmx 2.6 as most of the tracker only allow 2.6 and some lobster i dont which one alot of good shares there too anyone else there like me or am i alone here as one of the holdouts

yes that page shows lobster which is also an open nap or private nap client that alot of people have on winmx too as in the servers that is

yeah but is it a open nap server ....meaning can anyone join i was on it the other day as my alter ego (my winmx mantra) just pasted the addy and logged on well im sharing alot on there and felt like i should not show to all if you no what i mean like any mpaa's riaa's or the such

I tried to install WinMX from my old computer to the new. Unfortunately, it was alergic to a higher version of Java - it gagged, puked, & died. Thanks for the link, I'm looking forward to using it again. I've been using LimeWire & am not happy with it :(

Yes it is open to all weenden...check the "secondary" networks in you client. You can download a current online servers list for Winmx and other OpenNap clients, Here (http://www.gotnap.com/index.php?loc=client) If you add FST to you nick I will add you to our friends list, giving you privileges when you join the network. :cool:

Since you last used your client, WinMx, Frontcode the developers got busted..and that meant the host files where the old servers were coded in needs to be changed.."patched"..I presume by following the links weenden has kindly posted, will help you adjust them. Winmx will not be the same as it used to be ..yet( working on it) But it will start working again..and then perhaps I will see you log onto my network. :)

..yes it is, I share a lot of pre-releases there and there are many more file-sharers with extensive collections of high quality music..and more... :chris: :nono: :yup:

Also ..we will see, I am sure, that as we are approach the end of the BitTorrent Era, Opennap networks will prove a secure alternative for those looking for quality, virus free files and also a lively community comes with it. Come and join us :)

Ah WinMx, those were the days.
Although I still access it from time-to-time, the search results are virtually impossible to get anything from them.
(Apart not being able to find anything I want that is)

My main reluctance of not using it any longer is not having the facility to hide your DLs.
Although this was the best place to get good quality DLs from because we usually knew the person we were accessing.
It's a shame they never had the facility as with some other clients to only show your files to people on your friends/buddies list.

I think this was it's biggest downfall because certain people sharing anything from 6,000+ files started to get targeted by the powers that be, so most folk reduced their lists down to as low as 200 files only.

Yea i got a really huge mp3 collection for winmx back in the days. I do remember they had a scare though in the middle of 2005. Thats why i stopped using it. Maybe i'll reconsider.

im on private servers like bit torrent where you have to no someone to join but im on probably everyday on my other comp the old one and do bit torrent on this one you can still find the link on this thread to set up open nap but i dont bother with open
