I'm getting an ultracompact digital as an anniversary present for my gf. she's not a professional photographer, just everyday use, parties, indoor shots, stuff like that.
My price range is $250-$350, maybe $400 if it's really really good
I looked at the new Sony T200 ($400, $300 if I get the Sony credit card and get $100 off). It looks like an awesome camera, with the 3.5" touchscreen and the 5x optical. I then read some reviews, and a lot of people are saying the picture quality is really bad. pictures turn out grainy and crappy, especially indoors. but the camera is hot steamy sex. Most other cameras can't touch it's sexiness. :01: I guess i really like this cuz she likes red, and when we talked bout cameras, she said she liked long zoom. plus sony can engrave it, so that's pretty sweet.
I also looked at the Canon Powershot SD850 and 870. All reviews point to awesome camera, so so design and sexiness. the picture quality on it is supposed to be pretty good.
The Sony T200 and T70 are so new that there aren't any reviews out there with picture quality (actual picture comparisons). i need to make a decision and buy it soon, like within the next month.
I have a olympus sp 350. it's a 8mgpxl camera that is semi-professional. a lot of customization, and it comes out with very very good picture quality for 8 mgpxl. i guess this could make my camera buying skills slighly jaded... :pinch:
can anyone recommend a really good ultracompact?
basically I need:
-8 mgpxl or more
-as much optical as possible. 3x obviously is the standard for ultracompacts. any more would be nice
-Small size
-attractive would be a very nice bonus
-It's gotta churn out decent pictures. If it's blurry or crappy or bad indoors, then that's not good. It doesn't have to be perfect, or pro quality, but at least acceptable for 8 megapixel
-fits in my price range (i think most ultracompacts do, but still)
thx guys
