I dont know about anybody else but I seem to be noticing the fact that some users of this board try to call shots like their a moderator or something.

Its like Im back in grade school or something. You would think with all the post that get on this forum regarding other users telling on another one to the mod team that alone would be considered unecessary spam.

How can we stick together as peer 2 peer users and fight back against entities like the RIAA when we cant even stick together on a bullentin board.

Some things should be reported to mods provided they are according to the pertinent subject matter at hand. But to be quite honest, Im not seeing anything of the sort. All I see is a bunch of tattle telling on our fellow board members that really isnt even worth posting on this forum. Im sure the moderators have a big forum to administer but It seems to me that unecessary actions like those of snitches would make that all the more difficult.

My point is this, moderators should make it very clear that going behind the back of your fellow peer and finding some flaw (whatever it may be) and reporting it in a maliscious way will have no bearing on achieving any type of mod status whatsoever.

This whistleblowing has got to stop. <_<

This is exactly what Im reffering to in point partially with your remark of why I posted this here. Before you enetered this section of the forum you obviously overlooked the title. It clearly states: Lounge---&#62;You may talk about anything here.

I never stated that you shouldnt report something you see as offensive. But on the other hand maybe you think its offensive and someone else may not. As long as it is in accordance with the forum rules it really doesnt matter if it offends you or not. If we went about catering to filter out content or post that each particular individual may or may not find offensive then there would be no sense in participating in the forum or the topics.

And I respect your opinion just as much as you respect mine. :)

dont get me wrong. i understand 100% where you are coming from, anything goes in the lounge, but generally ends up as spam.

yes, i think the members should stick together, and if there is any disputes they should be sorted out on the board, but when it goes too far, i see no problem with calling a mod in to help. is this what you meant?

no, i dont agree that we should edit potentially offensive remarks, but if that individual wants to talk about say, "enjoying sex with children" he /she is gonna get flamed and people have every right to be offended. silly things like swearing etc, are not a reason to pm a mod, as they will be found eventually, but i had no idea this was going on in here. so apologies to shn.

It&#39;s been around for a while, just hard to notice. There&#39;s two kinds of reporters - Those who "snitch" as you say as a personal thing (e.g. to get back at someone, to shut down an opinion which they don&#39;t like, and [especially be noobs] to look good in case another moderator is chosen), and ones who don&#39;t do it for personal reasons but to keep the integrity of the board for all to enjoy. The former aren&#39;t truly needed if they only think for themselves, but IMO the latter aren&#39;t a problem and should in fact be encouraged, if only because the mods can&#39;t check every single thread.

Are you talking about one of these two "groups", or are you blanketing them all?

True, but like in the first quote you can tell mod-wannabes and genuine watchers. Mod-wannabes will be all publically saying they&#39;re gonna "snitch". The latter will sometimes put in a mature response on the problem to try and calm down the problem, but will PM a mod either anyway.

Some don&#39;t see it as a war; these pre-pubetics see it as a chance to screw around with the forum in whatever ways they can. Show VB a way which they can be culled quietly without taking any genuine posters out, and I show you the result of a forum without needing any form of moderation. <_<

Read the rules. Personal opinion doesn&#39;t matter - If it breaks these rules, action must be taken. Paul & VB didn&#39;t make the rules because it sounded cool to be in order; K-Lite is barely legal and we need as few problems brought in as possible.

Talking about P2P software in itself is not that bad - You think that having 50% of the forum containing serials won&#39;t give anybody enough evidence to shut this place down? Those rules are there to protect every member of this forum, regardless of how much of a dick they are - If you don&#39;t like them, go <_<

I&#39;m sorry if you&#39;re not talking about this; it just seems that you&#39;re partially blaming the rules.


Im sure the moderators have a big forum to administer but It seems to me that unecessary actions like those of snitches would make that all the more difficult.

The mods do a great job on their own, but they can&#39;t do everything instantly. AFAIK the mods rely on PMs from mature regulars as much as their own keen eyes; those same mature regulars try to help out the mods, whether they in themselves are mods or not, sort them out ASAP.

If you wish to help out that way and don&#39;t have that mentality, don&#39;t bother starting.

K-lite Supreme Snitches, wannabe junior moderators

I wonder how many people ever take the time to read the entire contents of this board every day?
Now imagine doing that every half hour or so.
It&#39;s absolutely neccesary that members assist in any way they can.
Think community for a moment here. The board exists only as long as members continue to feel comfortable enough to be a part of this community.
With so many members, so many different views and beliefs, so many differing values, the task of assessing what those views and beliefs are is an ominous task.

We have only a handfull of moderators with 32,680 members (although only a fraction of those may be on at any one time).
I think that&#39;s quite an amazing ratio. It shows just how well this forum and this community really works.
All of you have a pretty direct impact on the mood and quality of this community.
There really aren&#39;t that many defined rules either. Without direct feed back on what you find acceptable, or comfortable, the atmosphere of this forum would not be what it is.
I rely heavilly on your feedback. Without it, I have no way of understanding what you are comfortable with, what makes you come back, what would make you leave.
There are occasions where something is clearly not in the best interest of the community or even a small part of it.
For the rest, I often wait untill I see your comments, good or bad, before making any decisions or taking any action.
It might be some time before I see a post, if ever&#33;
It&#39;s extremely important then that people contact us when they have a concern or a question.
That&#39;s not "snitching", that&#39;s just doing your part for the community.

You are really on my last nerve HMPL...i will see that you get banned for sure. I do bother anyone unless i seem to notice very much spamming and i have never even said i wanted to be a mod....i only help them out when i notice a person doing something with really needs to be stopped. The mods DO tell us to tell them about things that people should not be doing, so you know what..i do. HMPL you are on my top of my list as needing to be banned.

I wouldnt last long being a moderator.................honestly. Id be banning innocent members just for the fun of it. It just wouldnt be safe around here anymore. It would be warzone. And anyone that says something I dont like would be banned, hell Id ban not only the member but their whole ip address block as well.
