View Full Version : Overcome Traffic Shaper ISP?

Hi,

I'm pretty much sure that my ISP (012 Kavey Zahav from Israel if somebody knows) is throttling my traffic

So, somebody knows how to overcome this? (I read about using proxy against it but I also read that it's useless :P)
And if someone can confirm this (that 012 shapes traffic)

Read more about Traffic Shaping\Throttling:
Bandwidth throttling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandwidth_throttling)
Traffic shaping (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic_shaping)

Thanks but I read that already and from the comments I can see that's not working

It is possible to tunnel BitTorrent traffic over SSH. Don't bother using the host they recommend. You'll need to get a VPS to tunnel through. Does your ISP throttle all traffic or just torrent traffic?

To be honest, I don't know
I guess only torrent traffic

Hi ,

i am from portugal and we have the same problem with some isps , the last one was the "outstanding" TVCABO.

Well , 1 month after the start of TS someone found a bitclient very good on velocity , but has bugs . So if u ppl have problems with the bitclient is not my fault .

I don´t if already know this or not but i will say anyway.

The Bitclient´s name is Deluge : http://deluge-torrent.org/News:Portal

012 Golden Lines are not traffic shaping in any way, as all p2p and everything else works fine for me and everyone I know. Are you sure your router (if you have one) settings are right?

That looks quite impressive on first glance.

However, when one considers that the total of 3.9MB downloaded would have taken less than 3 seconds, and it is virtually impossible to set up 163 connections in so short a time, and that you would have to know beforehand that you would achieve those rates on that particular torrent, one has to question the veracity of the screenshot.

If you continue to suffer from traffic shaping, you may want to consider moving to newsgroups.

I know you have to put down some money, but if you can't get around traffic shaping, at least you can still get your content.

It's a better investment that a seedbox in my opinion (unless your at some good/exceptional private tracker or something)

Another option is to hop over to IRC. You may not get everything you are finding now in newsgroups/torrents/kazaahahaha but hey, it's still free and they still have bots to serve you!

I'm also with 012 Golden Lines, and I can promise you they do! They throttle a lot
more of just Bittorrent traffic, they throttle everything that isn't HTTP traffic.

As far as I know, there is no way you can beat their traffic shaping.

Changing ISP is the only solution.

iTK98, how are you so positive about that? I mean, I think so too, but do you have any proof for that?

@lightshow
I prefer using torrents then newgroups
I have nice download speeds with bittorrent, I think they shape my traffic only in rush hours
anyway I get good speeds with torrents and I prefer not to pay to newgroups
