Thanks for the tip on how to place my fingers on the stick!
It shifts a lot easier now, and I don't fall back into a lower gear anymore:D

Gemmell is very happy as well

Do you have any tips on parallel parking?

Gem was explaining it with the whole 45 degree angle thing, but since I'm a girl, I don't have a clue what he was talking about

Now that's another thing entirely. That's something I just do (not very well). There's a trick with positioning mirrors and windows and things which a bloke tried to explain to me about three times but I could never understand it.

I had a quick look on the internets and this seems to be it.

Bizzarely, when driving a Ford Galaxy in Mallorca I was much better at parallel parking on the wrong side of the road.

that's because it makes more sense

Occasionally, I give Gem a heart attack, when I forget which countryI am in, and start driving on the right

That's a bit touchy of him.

why do we mostly park a car backwards?
seems illogical.

seems illogical.

It means that the wheels which are steering the car are effectively at the back of the vehicle. This gives you a tighter turning circle and means you can get into a smaller gap. Try driving straight into the same gap and it won't work.

That's why the wheels which steer a dumper are the back ones.

I forsee in da future...

2010.That, while parking backwards, your windshield will transform into a screen of what the ass of your car sees.

2011. Unlock back wheel feature, so you can, forward park (without driving onto the sidewalk).

2020. Gravity no longer exists.

2500. osmosis parking.

3000. no cars cause no humans.

You can already get cars with rear view cameras and parking sensors. I won't get anti-gravity sorted out properly for months.
