i downloaded the jackass movie which is 711554KB

then i burned it to a disc using nero. (and it still fit)

but when i tried to make a vcd out of it using nero it said there is not enough room (on the 700MB 80min disc)

is there any way of making this fit on the vcd keeping its quility?

Thread about two spots down from where you posted (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/bb/index.php?showtopic=52341)

No, the most you can fit is about 50 mins on a cd, and that is at the lowest quality possible. (which is shit)

Go Here (http://www.digvid.info/digitalvideo/bitrate_calc.php) and see the corrulation between lenght and quality. I will do it for ya.
running time of Jackass movie = 84 mins
To burn that on one 80 min Cd would require a bitrate of 1080 - I could draw better than that and I have motorskills problems.
And i do not know a encoder that lets you go that low.

www.vcdhelp.com Why are people still making vcds? Make VHS if you have video out or not use SVCD

Vcd and SVCD really not whole lot just quality. VCD's you have less control over, especially in Nero. a 90 min Cd is marketed as a 9o min audio Cd, obviously with audio and video it is much more than audio. So the answer is no, at a reasonable level. And why how much is a 900mb disk? I bet way more than 2 700MB. Go to the post I directed you to, and follow the link. Just do a super video cd, using those VERY easy to follow instructions. You will have a DVD quality movie (wel not quite but close) for less than it would cost you to make a shitty 1 disk vcd. If you are intent on doing a vcd with nero ( I was too proud once too, go to the link, and use the first step so split the file in two.

I summary the question is not always can it fit, but if there is a point to it fitting.
A VCD (svcd) is all about bitrate!!

I burnt a couple of vcd's one or two even came out ok, but really fuzzy on close ups just not worth watching really.

Your video card would need a t.v. out, and you would just play the file on your comp, running it through your VCR, to t.v and record like normal. never done it but i doubt the quality factor, could be wrong though.

no your jackass movie is probably avi and to burn vcd it has to encode it to mpeg which then tirples the file size or something.
so to fit an .avi movie on a 700 mb cd the avi would probably have to be 250mb or less.

thats my guess from what ive done.
